A friend of mine who works for Toyota USA said there's a two year wait for these. Apparently they haven't even started production.

That makes more sense. Maybe he was speaking to the DFW area in particular? When I went to buy a 460 a couple years ago, there was a wait for a new one.

Still trying to get a call back from a dealership to look at one in person for a test drive. I waited 9 months for my Tacoma, I guess if we're selective the wait for the GX could be just as long.

I looked at the new gx and contemplated getting one, but the extra width (83 inches! ) and the lack of v8 sold me on an outgoing 2023 instead. It's so big it's really hard to distinguish from an lx. That's actually what I thought it was when parked in the show room. New body style is sexy though

Is that with mirrors extended or folded? Trying to figure out if it'll fit in my stupid garage. Wife currently drives an ML350 which is 84" wide with mirrors and it's a tight squeeze if we don't use the power folding mirrors.

Hopefully get to put eyes on one this week at the dealership.

That is mirrors extended. They are pretty fat in person.

Ok then it'll be slightly narrower than her ML350 which is reasonable to park when the mirrors are folded. We test drove a premium today and the wife loved it. Visually it appears larger than it actually is. Once inside it's a bit more cozy, probably due to the dash and center console design. By no means do I feel cramped like I do in the Tacoma. The materials don't feel as premium as our Mercedes or other higher trim Lexus models

Convinced her she needed the Overtrail Plus in Earth so the deposit has been placed and now we wait.

In the above post, a deposit was made 5/9 and today (5/13) we got a call that a white Overtrail was available. I'm guessing somebody backed out but we passed.

White is our 3rd color option so we're still holding out for Earth or Nori Green in the Overtrail +.

Amazing vehicle in person. Overtrail is ideal, but other trims also appealing. Neighbor is first in NJ to own one

When we put our deposit down in May for the GX we told the sales guy white, Nori Green and Earth were our preferred colors with Earth being #1. We definitely wanted the Overtrail package and probably the Overtrail Plus (more bells and whistles).

A week later the sales guy had a white, which we passed on, wanting to hold out for an Earth. Last week he lets us know he's getting a green Overtrail Plus and white Overtrail.

After comparing spec sheets we pulled the trigger on the white Overtrail and decided the additional $10K wasn't worth it. The only features we desired on the Plus was the Mark Levinson and memory seats. Kind of interesting in 2024 memory seats on any Lexus is optional when my 2011 Nissan Titan had them.

I just went and looked at one on Monday. Tempted. But I would have to move the p-car if I want to drop this money on a new suv. funny how it went from a claimed “2 year wait” back in January to now the local dealer has 3 in stock on the lot, all available. Plenty of these things available. So I won’t rush into one but I’m highly interested since it’ll be more useful than the 981.
