not trolling but aren’t you building a whole new j arm kit ?

…and what potential solution is there if the cup is overbored ? some sort of shim ?

do you think they got out of round from being used ? no way they were machined oval…

I am building a J arm. But it doesn’t change the fact I’ve officially had a problem with every single part I’ve bought from JD aside from my pivots. And have a bunch of money tied up into this stuff.

Truthfully, when I recoat them this weekend I’m going to “accidentally” get overspray in the cups.

they are out of round from welding. Then hogged out with a flap wheel to fit a uniball again. (Can see the marks)….

I wanna be clear too. I’m not out for JD. Not at all. They are good people.

I did however get frustrated in the last year after dealing with my second consecutive year of my SUA not working as advertised. Chasing my tail being told I had something wrong. Knowing well and good I didn’t.

But facts are facts. Hopefully as production continued after these early kits some things were improved. I know everyone really seems to like their stuff. And I’m happy for that.

But I deep dive into things. Research heavy. Daily. Then apply things to my own vehicle and see what could be improved.

At this point, I should just trade in for a Tremor or Gen2 Raptor

was just curious why you are investing more $ into it if you are building your own kit , are you only building your own UCA ? I assumed you were building a whole kit with fab’d spindles too

Pretty sure he is trying to test out the steering stuff before he completely tears into the front end again.

most likely welded without the proper brass plug installed, easiest way to get them out of round for sure. And short of getting a small layer of clad welding inside and then boring them out on a mill you would have to just replace the cups to get them perfect… definitely not ideal

It doesn’t seem like a responsible move to have not one but two prototypes going at the same time.

Just the swingset took 5 months to design, develop and prototype to a working setup. J arm isn’t going to be much different.

I didn’t get the response I initially wanted to see to make the J arm happen sooner. So now I’m doing it on my time. Which I’m totally fine with.

The JD kit will live on the truck for one more season then it’s on.

I hate to make assumptions. But evidence agrees. Something improper was done during the manufacturing process. And that’s concerning to me looking at how long they’ve been around. Really doesn’t make sense. You would think the process would be dialed.

I hate the finger pointing game. But this stuff isn’t cheap. People work hard to obtain these types of parts. And seeing more things emerge over time definitely raises questions.

    some welding required
agreed shouldn't have to, but it's an easy solution to a current problem
weld distortion as mentioned. and there's a selection of bearing retaining compounds ("green loctite") that will do the trick, no hassle

I'll be taking a good look at my JD arms as they arrive hopefully next week and may preemptively pull the sphericals out once to apply loctite

TC +2 truck, is this amount of gap normal? Both sides of my truck have significant gap on the aft rear LCA pivots, with the fwd rear pivots absolutely destroying poly bushings. The assumed fix was to switch to delrin, but after digging into this myself vs just having a shop slap it together I'm thinking the issue may be bigger than expected. Truck has seen no impacts to the front that would cause both to be out.
