say you’re on a far trip with a trailer
    Sleep in bed overnight

    how do you secure trailer?

im thinking drape a line of empty cans on it, (open deck) through a string tied down to it
So any tweaker trying to run off with a box makes a bunch of noise to wake me up

and certain places they may be
For example hotel parking lots seem to be a common target for thieves which makes sense; person is away from their vehicle sleeping in the hotel unable to hear anything going on outside, no security guard posted, etc

harbor freight may have some stuff
    80db vibration sensing alarm $7
Good in theory, but in practice don’t want that thing going off every 5 seconds from a wild animal, gust of wind, rain, etc

I guess maybe put it inside one box
maybe write “MONEY” on the box and draw a dollar sign, so the tweaker goes for that first and trips alarm
Only if they are Level 2 crackhead equipped with shoplifted Headlamp

If you are sleeping in the truck bed, stay in a campground
Couple bucks for a fairly safe place, power, toilets and showers, etc

I would just not sleep in a place full of tweakers.

    (trailer pictured)

I was thinking pull over sleep on the side of the road

be kept up at night by semis passing
    And rear end crashed into

    I mean this sounds luxurious
    I just think
    1. There’s still tweakers there
    2. It can be expensive with vehicle and trailer
    3. What are the odds if I pull over at 10pm the front gate is even open and accepting entries. Not likely.

even better if renters insurance or auto insurance has protection.
You steal my old shit jokes on you getting brand new now.

They make security alarm systems for RV’s. In addition you can put solar motion detector lights on your RV. Get both, sleep soundly, arm yourself (and know how to use your armament.)
I assume you are talking about a travel trailer. If not there are still alarms you can get.

Dont use the interstate motels. Reserve your overnight with hipcamp. Either boondock it with a tent and bag or spend a bit more and rent a furnished hippy yurt. Most of them are cheaper than any shame-stained hotel anyway.

I've had no problems finding my choice of places that were on private land and well away from prying eyes. Or for that matter, road noise.

I’ve been approached by tweakers twice in remote areas. The first time when they saw my buddy holding a short barrel 12 gauge, they decided it was time to move on. The second time I rested my hand on the butt of my holstered 10mm, they suddenly remembered they had an appointment that they were late for.

Yeah. Ideal seems like never use a weapon. Use a weapon you’re getting cuffed, taken down town, charged. Immediately. Regardless of how justified anything may be. And whatever bail costs.
Not to mention differing laws based on area.

    Sounds like a good idea.
Truck has a sleeping platform in the bed but that comes at the cost of taking away the ability to hold large stuff there

A couple hundred thousand times a year having a gun stops a crime without being fired (see More Guns Less Crime by John Lott). In a deadly self defense situation I’d rather be alive and deal with the justice system than be dead.
The previous two experiences I mentioned no weapon was fired, but having and displaying our weapons stopped crimes that could have caused great bodily harm or death to my friend and myself. I am ccw. So if you are afraid of guns or just don’t like them, no problem,it’s your decision, protect yourself however you want.

    honestly man
I was looking at buying a utility 5x8 single axle

    because Uhaul wants $2k+ for a 6x12

load up, leave room atop the bed
    Sleep on truck bed platform
Maybe a tent or driver seat

maybe have a shop weld bars on utility trailer higher
    I’ll see what happens.

or rent cheaper half the price, 5x8 single axle Uhaul
Which is at least unlike utility
    -enclosed
    -lockable

next work company is offering to compensate for moving cost up to a certain amount such as uhaul and I think with a uhaul receipt that would be more realistic
Than buying and selling a utility trailer

plus I fear a utility trailer may actually be a liability and not the asset I thought it was.
    -the hassle of storing it
-the limited use case of potential future buyers.
I mean what good is a little utility trailer with low weight capacity that’s primarily used to move an ATV or lawn mower.

the idea behind utility trailer was
Get a bunch of big totes from Costco
Put as many as I can, then strap them down. Tie downs/ratchet straps, tarp, net
But loading and securing an enclosed Uhaul 5x8 would probably be a lot easier to just bite the bullet.

yeah. Hopefully no ensuing charges like brandishing, threatening, etc
    ^Make this man President

if such a thing were to occur in constitutional carry AZ probably would be fine.

Get a POD delivered and don’t bother with towing a trailer.

This^^^^^^^^^^^^. I used a pod to move some stuff from east coast to west coast. I’d never tow a trailer for moving if I could use pods. I loaded up a pod , flew home and the pod arrived at my driveway a week later. Easy peasy
