It kind of makes sense to do it that way with how many motors people will pack in on the back of some of those boats. I always wondered how they were able to turn being so close together.

Yeah, I wonder how much fuel something like that burns all together compared to how much carried on the boat.

I was curious, so I looked at the specs for a 38' Boston Whaler. 445 gallon fuel capacity!

I can't imagine how much fuel those things go through in a day. They're probably burning several gallons per minute when cruising on plane.

    Week

Cost of gas doesn't effect the people who can afford these boat.

I was on a Lake Michigan charter boat and we stopped to fill up when we got in and that was over $600.00

Saw one up close last August at Road America when our camping neighbors from Minnesota set up. Fricken sweet!

Exactly. The 41ft sailboat I manned in the keys could carry so much loot and supplies it was unreal compared to how we pack out for wheeling/camping/hiking

Incredible. So basically a twin engine airplane would be cheaper to run!

That depends.. Are you trying to rationalize buying a twin engine airplane?

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Back in the early '90s, I worked with a guy who owned a 'cigarette' boat. He told me once that he put in at High Cliff, ran down to Fond du Lac and back, and went through $125 in gas.

I hope they have a lot more than that. Mine has a 40 gallon tank and I’ve only got a single engine

most of the bigger boats start at 75-150 gallons.

Well, in reality, I got nowhere to go. So I guess it’s kinda pointless trying to justify something that will get me nowhere faster. :p

Just get a bush plane, then you can run it on about anything. Seems fitting for being in Wisconsin

You got nowhere to go now. If you had a plane you could be to places so much faster

    I'm not a boat guy.
Saw a big ass boat at the Kwik Trip once and was talking to him about it.
His was 50gal and he said he never fills it all the way lol.
    That's why I said 50+

They can be such money pits. Even little boats guzzle gas. I think it's much more fun knowing someone with a boat than owning a boat. :D

The old addage... The best days of boat ownership are the day you buy it and the day you sell it.

I can attest to the truth of that statement.
