I know they are newer, but is anyone running the OME/ARB MT64? Would love to hear some opinions.

Not currently but I think I am going to pull the trigger and get a set here soon. Hoping toytec can get them. I have been looking for reviews too and havent been able to find any so not sure if they are actually available yet.

    I have a dclb.
Bought the mt64's from wheelers off road when they were having a super sale. It took about 2.5-3 weeks to deliver.
I have the fronts with the light/med load springs 4004s and same for rears. I did the Icon rxt at option 2. I didn't do the dakars, read too much about them being noisy and going flat pre-maturely.

My setup- basically factory. I have a dclb sport tacoma and a cab-over camper shell that weighs approx 350-450 lbs.

Today I spent 8.5 hours installing the MT64 suspension and Icon Rxt, by myself BUT I used a base auto hobby shop so I was fortunate enough to rent their 4 post lift and tools. Also to note, this is actually the first time I've ever modified any vehicle I've owned and I have owned quite a few- endeavor, fit, tacoma limited, mustang, jeep wrangler 4xe. The reason I modified my tacoma was to support the camper top and take some undue stress off my drivetrain (if any exists).

My spring setup was at the 2nd notch for coilovers both sides and i have zero weight in the front.
I didn't measure my lift beforehand or after but its huge. i.cant.park.in.my.garage-huge but I do have a few inches above my cab for the camper.
    Actual measurements to come.

The shocks are massive. in fact- you need to install a new rear shock mounting bracket thats wide enough to clear the shock. Not a big deal. but if you don't like drilling holes in your factory truck- theres one pilot hole that needs to be drilled in the forward existing lower shock mount. Its a 5/16 hole. Also- the rear shock upper rubber bushings are THICK. It was hard to get to the thread for the nut...I had to wait till the very end, install my tire and guide the shock through the hole until there was zero weight on the jack and the truck was back on earth and even then- I'm talking maybe two threads, just enough to get a wrench in there and get after it. but it was only on the drivers side- so maybe my fuel tank being a quarter full influenced this?
It still isn't compressed to where the rubber bushing matches the width of the upper concave washer. but, in my defense- i was racing the clock before the shop closed.
Another note- in order to secure the second bracket for the rear break lines you will have to drill a bigger hole in the factory bracket to mount to the leaf spring brackets, make sure you have a bit (I didn't, so its just loose for now)

The front struts weren't bad to install- I went the route of removing the spindle attachment point at the uca, removing the sway bar and moving it up, removing the tie-rod. After having done that and if I had to do it again, I would just drop the LCA. I had the clearance to just push the shock from the bottom but I was afraid I wouldn't clear the tie-rod.
I definitely couldn't pull my uca down far enough to reinstall the bolt and nut to the spindle, and had to ask someone to pull it down while I threaded the nut. My factory uca is BARELY clearing the coil, but its not any wider than the factory coil, so I suspect it will be fixed once I re-align.
One thing that was a f-ing pain was REINSTALLING my sway bar and the shims that were included. The threads on the factory bolts always seemed like they were cross-threading. Also- I forgot if OME had bolts that came with the sway bar drop and I just misplaced them. I couldn't install the drop blocks before closing time so I was playing with fire on the drive home- absolutely need this part, sway bar is dangerously close to the coils.
Looking at the front of my truck with the new suspension, my camber is definitely fat on top and skinny on the bottom- alignment booked.

The first thing you will notice after this suspension install, or any suspension install is that you need to jump up to get in. The second thing is, you will feel solid. I had some really cushy body roll and not anymore. Its like driving a sedan, no wobbly turns. I didn't take it above 45mph due to the sway bar anxiety but this suspension is solid, no overcorrecting movements.
Another fun note- I was experiencing the smallest slightest vibes at 20/40mph. I did the 4Hi test, still there. I even bought the egcs bushing, not installed.
Now- I've only been on one ride -but the truck isn't buzzing anymore, its well-planted. I must state a disclaimer that I'm not a person who can jump in a vehicle and feel what is not "just a truck thing" while driving it.

Now that I don't deal with the lag of my factory suspension, I get off the line faster. Its pretty incredible. If the factory suspension is a snare-drum, the MT64 would be the kick-drum. Just determined to keep my truck vertical during all street maneuvers no weeble-wobbling, or fumbling around. I'm very glad I chose a suspension with zero required maintenance because changing out a suspension every few thousand miles would suck, my entire body hurts...blaming the torque specs here. I'm also glad I landed on the MT64, it was drastically different from factory so in my brain- i assume its automatically better. :)

This is a super-long post but i've had a long day and wanted to share my experience with possible MT64 new-comers. Hope this helps.

    MT-64 coil options.

I had them installed on my dclb 2023 about a month ago and the difference was felt immediately!!
First thing is they keep the truck level, and dont bounce over speed bumps like the factory ones. I did not expect to feel such an incredible difference but it makes driving the truck around town a dream!

Off road they are very comfortable, and responsive. Loads of fun!

The only issue so far is that the truck is high enough that my partner(shes 5’3) now requires the step bar to get in… but that was to be expected

Post back about how quiet the RXT’s are or are not. Mine started squeaking probably 3 weeks in. It’s impressive how much they creak.

Is there a difference in fitment from the 2800 springs to the 4000's?
I.E. Can a 2888 spring be used on the MT64?

For the rxts- I hope they don’t start squeaking. When I took out the option 1 leaf it looked like they had a coating of brown grease all along it. I also read ppl using fluid film. I’ll update when/if I have any noise.

for the coil overs. I have no clue if the 2888 springs can be used. I would send an email or call wheelers off road or someone who sells the mt64 and can test fit.
I noticed that ome updated their nitro chargers to “nitro charger plus” and are offering their two new coil setups with them-4004, 4008. I would make the assumption that the 2888 would fit just fine, but is the performance the same with such a huge bore piston body? Not sure.

looking at the specs on wheelers. It appears there’s only a 2 lb difference between the two. 2888: 590lbs and 4004: 588lbs.
That’s tiny. I would buy whatever is cheaper. ;)

thank you guys for the info, either of you have pictures of them installed? would like to see what the truck looks like after install. Waiting for Toytec here in Denver to get them in (a little surprised they dont have them being such a big ARB dealer). But excited to get a set. Was hoping to stay under 2 in lift.

What clip setting did you use in the front? And if you had guess how much lift you think it got you. Thanks! Looks great

It started with a jingling but now I’ve got squeaking. I jumped on the truck to try to duplicate the noise and couldn’t. So it’s more of a horizontal movement causing it. I’ve been hemming and hawing about going down to stage 1 (from 2) so I can park in the garage.
I noticed that the factory pack has rubber lining the brackets that go around the springs. I’m going to implement the bicycle tire trick and maybe I’ll find some adhesive backed rubber to line the brackets when I go down to stage 1. The mt64 with stage 2 rxt gives you a straight level lift…the swap out will hopefully give me back some rake. I asked around for opinions on if the rxts will settle and the responses were “rxts don’t settle by much”. So, good that they don’t settle but I probably should have done stage 1 and then gone up from there if I felt I needed more lift.
I was approaching the squeaking issue from the point of “I’ll wait and see what happens”. I should’ve just done everything to eliminate it from not happening at all first. Oh well, guess I’ll be a pro at installing leaf packs when this is done.

Appreciate that. I have pretty impressive creaking. No squeaking, just solid 1940’s truck version creaking. I’ll put some shims in this weekend because I picked up vibes too.

did you guys need extra brackets for the rear shocks to fit the bottom mount on the axel?

I bought the extended U bolts. I’m pretty sure the stock bolts wouldn’t have worked on the RXT’s.

Oops, just realized you were talking about the shocks and not leaves.

The rear shocks come with the extended brackets. The width of the lower shock mount is wider than the factory mounting point so you absolutely need them. Buy a 5/16th drill bit to drill the pilot hole to mount them.
There’s a YouTube video of someone installing the bp-51’s rears and the bracket is the same.

so, post bicycle tire install- squeaking like before- no change. It’s really annoying.
I’m wondering if it’s the bushings themselves. Really bummed that the tire fix didn’t do anything. I’m beginning to wonder if just adding a leaf is actually the best way to improve the leaf springs.

awesome thank you! I just ordered the shocks and springs separately because I am doing an add a leaf instead of the whole leaf pack. Will let you know if it squeaks. I did have some squeaking with the add a leaf on my previous second gen but not bad and took a few years to show.

hoping the individual shocks ordered on their own have the extended brackets and not just the full kit.

Yeah, I’m curious about squeaking issues with add-a-leafs.
It might be worth the time to line your leafs with rubber/bicycle tires while you have them undone. Also- check the u brackets and make sure the leafs have a lot of clearance between them. I think my leafs have slid sideways and are rubbing on the brackets. It’s hard to hammer them out with everything installed but I’m sure I will get around to it soon.

make sure you claim the rebate on the arb website. You have to place an order within the timeframe so I missed out.
