I have a dual fuel generator also....only run propane through it. I need to get 2 or 3 40lb tanks. Any bigger and they'd be really difficult to move!

It's best to put a tachometer on the engine so you can tune it. Propane has slightly less energy density than gasoline, but tuned correctly it's not that far off.

I can move 100lb tanks with a dolly, and I'm not that big.

They are handy but in warmer climates of not used on a regular basis, the 1 lb bottles will swell at the seam.

Or an adapter hose to go from to the 1 pound bottle connections.

I am not familiar with the dual fuel models. I have a regulator with a screw adjustment. It's like tuning a gas carburetor, just peak the RPM while making sure it's not too rich or lean. My generator is only 7.5kw. I probably wouldn't run anything bigger on a portable tank. You would be better off with a big one. Or natural gas hookup.

Been an interesting read on this thread. Many things in order to be "prepared" need to be considered. Seems like most of you have some land to grow, basements to have workstations and to store products.

I respectfully disagree that the MAG must be close to trade as some things for some people are easier to get than others.

I'd have to look but pretty sure mine doesnt have that. You just switch it from gas to propane

It happened to me. I had refilled about 6 1 lb bottles and left then in my garage. It was longer than expected between camping and hunting trips. Left the bottles in my garage. It was concerning of how swollen they were.

I've never had a 1lb bottle swell. But the crappy Schrader valves on them always seem to leak leaving you with an empty bottle. Harbor freight has a cheap refill adapter for them. I'm down to one good one but when it starts leaking it will go in the trash. If you put them in the freezer first, you can get more in them.

Maybe they were overfilled? I know with propane you have to leave some space for expansion.

That is completely possible as my refill valve does not have a gauge.
