If your engines aren't broken in yet, drive it moderately hard for 2000kms or so to break it in and reassess. If it's still the same then check the torque on your spark plugs with the engine cold. Apparently guys are finding them a little loose sometimes

I just got back from running an errand with my truck. Fully warmed up, in drive, reading the tach....it's idling between 650-700 rpm best I could tell. Truck idles so smooth at this rpm, you can't tell if its running or not.

I have a 2022 V6 and in park is idles perfectly at 600-650 rpm. Then as soon as I put in drive it drops to 500 rpm and idles roughly. I took it in multiple times, and they just keep saying it's fine. Very frustrating.

How rough? I’m in the exact same situation with my 2023 v6. My also has strong vibrations throughout the rpm ranges in the floor board , steering wheel and gas pedal

It's just a rough idle when it's only in drive. The truck runs fine it just bothers me when it runs flawless in park at 650rpm to 500 in Drive.

Gotcha, I’m just curious how rough you’re talking. Like it shimmies a lot , can you see the dash and steering wheel shaking slightly. Mine idles so rough sometimes the truck shakes

Had three, and they all idle rough at times. Theories abound as to why, ranging from octane to alien abduction…

“Tacoma rough idle” deserves its own sub-category of opinion that includes oil change intervals and the meaning of life…

A lot of people say their trucks idle smooth as glass, not even being able to tell is running

Yep, mine does too, mostly. It’s the occasional part that stirs debate. Plus, smooth is generally relative to the last vehicle we drove…

Either way, just like knocking noises coming from my 1GR, I consider it normal.

So after completely looking over everything on my truck in a desperate attempt to find the cause of the excessive vibration from my engine I started looking at the harmonic balancer/crank pulley. The rubber on the pulley is cracked and splitting all over the place. Hard time believing that could be normal for a truck with only 5k miles. Starting to wonder if I found my issue
