When it blows, reach out to maximum Offroad transmissions. Those guys are pros.

they just got done building me a 4L80E tailored to my specs, with the ratios I wanted.

Also, what cooler do you have? I’m on my 6th iterations of coolers because every time I think it’s big, it overheats. Just keep an eye on your temp gauge. Don’t let it get above 230, ever. My cooler setup now pulls over 260,000 BTU’s of heat out, and I think it will finally stay below 200 now.

I’m just running a knockoff 40k trans cooler off Amazon (ordered the tru-cool name brand one, received knockoff lol) up front, right behind and in line with the grill. The internet says it will be plenty so we will see. But that’s one reason why I went with the trans temp standalone gauge… I want to really monitor that thing closely. I’ve been following your build and seen all the cooler fiasco with the overheating and the botched hard line job. Hopefully you will be good to go now

What a week. The brake lines were still being a nightmare so I ended up ditching the rear hard lines and brass tee and threw on some braided lines with a -3 tee. The rear brakes were finally not leaking.

Had to replace the master because it was also leaking. Got that in and bled the brakes and proceeded to drive around the yard where everything felt good, and just as I was finally ready for the neighborhood road test drive, the pedal went to the floor. Everything looked fine so I pulled the master off the booster and the pushrod extension was gone. It broke off the end of the booster pushrod when it fell out. So now I had to replace the booster and make a new pushrod extension

After spending way more on the brake system than I'd like to admit, I finally have a truck that moves and stops on its own. The brakes feel good so far, but still need to be broken in along with other things. Got the trans to shift through the gears and got the truck up to about 40 with no issues so far. Time to start to plan a tune session on the dyno.

This is how I pulled out the extension. The tip of the stock pushrod barely stuck in the end of the extension which caused the extension to kind of "buckle" when the pedal was pushed which caused it to get wedged sideways, which in essence sheared the end of the pushrod off and they fell into the booster. Very glad this happened in my backyard.

New extension I made up. The sleeve captures all of the booster pushrod which prevents things from wanting to get pushed sideways and bound up. The pedal now feels just like it should with no chance of the extension falling off again

New brake lines. Zipties are temporary and everything will be better mounted soon.

    Mine,
Well they had to replace the oil pump. Something about when my guy tried to force an FAT OVERSIZED O-ring on the end of the pickup tube it deformed something on the oil pump.
Now they are fixing ALL the electrical issues. First thing is when the engine started to get warm the second SPAL fan kicked on and burned right out. Something about the ground/s❓
The guy who did the work said you drove from TX to AZ and didn’t have any issues. Yes at 70 mph and 6 inches of snow on the side of the road I didn’t need the AC and I’m sure at 70 plus mph the fans were never needed.

Rear shocks done. Took it for a longer spin around the block today and everything was good. Washed it and took some pics after I did a donut in the yard

Winch Solenoid mounted on the old battery spot and winch rope spooled onto the winch. Fuck I hate Factor 55 shit. The stupid thing is spliced into the winch rope so I am just going to buy another rope that has a regular hook on it.

JB Custom shifter is in its final spot. I hate installing cable shifters but the outcome is always worth it as they shift as smooth as possible. A leather shift boot is in the works already. I will have to make a little bracket to keep the shift cable off of the transmission shift rod but that should be all it needs. I also finished the trans shifter itself under the truck by adding a 5/16" heim to it can move and rotate freely. Everything clears underneath, even though the picture might not appear that way

T-case shifter done. I used a generic leather boot from Amazon and made a ring out of some 1/8" aluminum and fastened it with two rivets on the inside for a seamless fit. Almost like it was meant to be there...

Most things I had never done before on this build (engine swap, wiring, new fuel system, new brake lines, etc... ) so a lot of projects were challenges for me. Just trying my best :D
