Great Gas mileage!!! imo

I just got 22.87 mpg on my trip to corolla, north carolina and that includes beach driving too.

 

damn u! im getting 18 as of now and thats alot of highway driving and some city. i dont get how ppl r getting over 20 and im not. i just filled up today and it cost me $61.15

 

Well it was alot of flat ground driving at a steady cruise of about 55-60 all the way there with a few stop lights and no excessive acceleration.

 

oh my trip to charelston a couple weeks back i got 21.9 with DC. was super happy haha

u got a 4 cylinder right?

 

OP's got a 4cyl, which makes some sense, because 4cyls should get around that mileage for some mixed driving. If you drove a V6, you could get around that mileage with minimal weight, rolling resistance and ~55mph consistently without stop/go.

But that's pretty good if you had some beach driving too!

 

Getting warmer here, so mileage is definitely going up for me. I got over 21 mpg going about 72 mph on the interstate this weekend, all headed east with a stiff tailwind. It was well over 21 but I'm rounding down because I filled up in the destination city instead of at the original pump and that adds some margin of error. V6 DC for me.

 

Yeah sometimes I miss my 92 Geo Metro. 1000 cc and 3 cylinders of raw Japanese Suzuki Power.......and then I remember how miserable it was to drive.

 

I have always been over 22 mpg with my 4 cyl Prerunner, usually close to 23 mpg or occasionally slightly higher, but typically I average not much more then OP stated.

that is great. the best i have ever gotten is 20.5, but that is pretty much all street. i have been averaging 19.5 this winter. I want to get to the elusive 400 miles on a tank this summer.

 

I keep trying to break 20 and i cant do it!! I know part of the problem is.. its really hard to stay at 60mph. One trip to Tahoe after I first got my truck last year, i got 21.5 mpg. Did the round trip of 385 miles on one tank! Was very impressed. Since the lift and the 33s.. well i just want to see 20 again once..

 

Broke the 20 MPG once in warmer temps. Whitout too much idling, and maximum 65 on highway, its doable with a V6 4x4, but you really gotta be carefull.

If most of your driving is suburban, the 20 MPG mark will be easy to break though, as I get nearly 30 MPG Driving 40-50 MPH.

 

I consistently get 19-20, sometimes 21 going 75mph on cruise control between Philly and Hartford CT. When I set the cruise to 85 or 90 it drops to 18 but that's it. Pretty happy with that.

nope no joke at all.

My mods include,
TRD suspension
TRD offroad wheels
Stock Dunflop (lol) tires with 37 PSI pressure
TRD skid plate (maybe helps aerodynamics)
run 89 octane fuel (gets a slight bit higher for me than 87 or 93)
I switched all my Diffs. and Trans and Transaxel to Synthetic-Blend Fluids (wal-mart supertech)
Engine Oil Synthetic 5w-30 (wal-mart supertech)
Intake i removed secondary filter and fender resonator and dropped in a AFE dryflow
And i am EXTREMELY easy on the gas and barely ever go above 2k rpms

by doing all the above i went for 19-20 MPG to the said 24-25 MPG not saying this will work for all cars but it did for me

 

oh nice. im not too worried about my mpg but sometimes i wish i got better just so i could save some $$$ and spend it on mods and the fun stuff

 

V6 6spd 100 mile commute 60 open road 40 city (well it's Maine so city as it gets yeah we do have traffic lights) last tank 19.2 has less then 2,000 miles has been getting better as it breaks in.

Do you track your mileage using Fuelly, because I'm sure your mileage isn't that good with a 4.0L V6, larger tires and a lift??

I drive a stock 4.0L V6 on the highway and my [highway] mileage is ~21.5mpg

I don't even think going 45-50mph would result in such good mileage with your setup or even mine for that matter.
