I got the first unit a year ago in a few days for my 3rd gen tacoma. They didn’t program it properly so I had to send the first one back within a week. Now I’ve had nothing but problems out of this radio. It has started shutting off a lot more lately and I can’t turn it back on. Has anyone else had a problem with it? I love the radio on its own. I am all about music and I love how it’s a amp on its own.

Who did you get the radio from ? It’s possible it may need a firmware update to get things back to normal.

I got it from trail grid. I did do the update they sent me December 1st, but Christmas Day it stopped reading my vehicle information. Then since then the turning off and not coming back on got worse within the last month.

I would call or email them and tell them what’s going on. They may have had this problem before.

Thank you! I feel like I’m a problem to them at this point being I’ve already had a whole replacement and it’s not even been a year yet

if they’re a good company, I doubt they’ll view as a bother. Often this helps others too, if a vendor has too many problems, they’ll stop stocking a product with known issues (I’m not saying this particular one does or doesn’t)

It could be just a bad batch of components that eventually go bad. You paid for it and it’s causing problems so I wouldn’t hesitate at all . It might even be that they sent you a refurbished model instead of a new replacement.

I honestly thought they might have gave me a refurbished one when it first started doing it.

I’m pretty sure Trailgrid offers a two year replacement warranty on Sony units. You should call them.

It’s a three year warranty(thank goodness). I emailed them an hour ago. I was just checking to see if this was a major problem with their head units. When I got it last May I only seen maybe three posts recommending it on a tacoma group I follow on Facebook.
