Speaking of which I have found some great trails the past month or so for the AppleFest run... All in the Barrens (For Carlos...) so easy access to Bayfield. No winch day yet but I have time...

Returned yesterday from our annual family trip to the Nicolet Forest, near the Brule River, for time away from home/tech. Always good to have a hard reset once in a while!

Also, got a chance to use my winch on a section of downed hard maple. Worked like a charm and provided great firewood.

So, I am trying to justify a purchase. I want it/them-Mc Niel fenders; however, the shipping is a problem for me. Cost on the fenders (for the pair) is $500. Shipping from California is $520. They are big. They need to be protected so they don't get destroyed. But the shipping is more than the purchase... and doubles the cost. Do I want them that badly? Help me make it make sense...

How bout a road trip to pick them up? Maybe some trails are along the way.

We were there during the week, I didn't think it would be possible to meet up! Next time I'm in the area, you and @LarryDangerfield will know.

My work wagon is a AW119 helicopter. I just hang out in the back, the pilots refer to us as “self-loading baggage”

Well, haven't checked in here recently, but felt obligated to run to the Internet to show my first experience with the 4Runner. Attended 4L4W free clinic to pop the cherry. Great group of folks. Even got to learn how to use crawl control (I mean cmon that was pretty sweet). One other 5th Gen in our group and a 4th gen leading..and about 12 jeeps of course.

Hmmm... I will be in California in June. I'm flying there via Southwest. We're going to be hanging with my brother in Sacramento. I don't know how big you're talking, but could they be checked luggage? Is it worth it to look into shipping to his address (probably quite a bit cheaper?) and then me checking them for the flight home? Just a thought. Even if they have to be designated "oversized" or something, $200 is a better deal than $520. Again, just throwing it out there, but I'm definitely happy to help if something can be worked out.

Damn, that's steep, but they probably have to crate them, or else those damned knuckle-draggin' truck drivers (or their cohorts on the docks) will smash the sh!t outta them. :anonymous:

Is that shipping quote to your house (residential)? You could save yourself some money having them shipped to the school (commercial?) or maybe a business (like a repair shop you work with). Looking at their website, they aren't specific (not surprising) as to which LTL they use (often put out for bid with several LTLs). If you knew and were willing to drive a bit, terminal pickup might save you a little too. Pricing can vary wildly depending on the amount of freight in the pipeline out of CA (and sometimes areas along the way).

I'd love to tell you how much you want them...:spending::spending:, you know that's the TW way. It's only money, Pat, retirement is still a looooooooong ways off.:boink:

That area was very purty!!! I’d love to explore it again. There was another camp site in that area called horseshow lake. Ever been to that one?

Is it time to introduce your students to an english wheel? Making steel fenders with all sorts of compound curves would be kinda cool! It might be hard to learn enough about how to form sheet before school’s back in, but that might be fun in itself lol.

It might cost $500 in gas just to get to San Diego!

That's an idea ship them to someone in Milw with terminal drop, they pick them up & TW express to you.

    Or closer...

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any LTL that has a terminal north of the Hwy 29 corridor, GB/Wausau/EC/Twin Cities.

Horseshoe lake is for horses. They have a big round up that weekend usually as well. I know of some AMAZING dispersed sites, but no amenities...
