Love the 12ga Winchester SXP Black Shadow pump action with a TrueGlo bead on the end. My mom loves shooting it. It's Turkish made so pretty budget friendly. I've put 15k+ rounds through it with no issues. Liked it so much I bought a second one with wood furniture instead of the black furniture.

If you wanna go fancy with a semi auto I'd suggest the Beretta A300 Outlander. Put a lot through this one and it's been flawless
Mom can't shoot the Beretta as the bolt release button is too stiff to push in.

Yeah, I forgot a couple times to remove my handgun from the vehicle when going into Maryland
And being less than 2 miles from the Mason Dixon line, I go there fairly often.
BTW, you don't need no steenkin signs to know when you've crossed the border.
At least they get good roads for all the taxes they pay

Oh yeah, I've gotten out of the habit of having a handgun in my truck... cuz Maryland.
A simple traffic stop can turn into a big deal, and speed traps are a major source of revenue there

Long guns are no problemo if they're unloaded and cased.
I shot at North American and Mount Airy Gun Clubs many many times.
Plus a few more places I've forgotten.
