@14 years old my friend and I had sneaked his moms 65 6 cyl Chevy II out for a joy ride. Kinda simular tail.

 

for a very short amount of time i worked for a guy who makes fiberglass bodies.
his operation is an absolute shitshow. i have no idea how he stays in business.

BUT anyway, after working for him for a little while i read about that class and i suggested one of us should go and maybe get some insite. He wasnt having it. Bad mouthed their cars qnd on and on and on.

Like I said.... didnt work for the bozo for very long.

 

Can anybody point out what's unique about this particular Chevy model ?

 

Other than it being a single year body style?

 

uhhh 64? Not sure if it is, windshield doesn’t seem correct for 64… looking forward to the reveal! lol Hmmm shaved door handles are unique, probably more than that if we saw said build up close?!

 

It’s a 1962 looking at the backend, but the front looks like a 63.

 

No, I’m pretty sure it’s a 62.

 

The green convertible is a 1962 Chevy Bel Air Bubble Top (with the top chopped off). The 62 Bel Air has the same body as a 1962 Impala and the top is from a 1961 Impala Bubble Top. They never made a 1962 Chevy Bel Air convertible. So the green convertible is a custom hybrid that never existed.

 

Like I said previously, 62 Bel Airs have the exact same body as a 62 Impala, except the side trim is thinner and they only have four tail lights instead of six. Some guys will ad all of the Impala side trim, emblems and the extra lights to make it look like a 62 Impala with a bubble top. Also, resulting in a hybrid that never existed. Here are two examples of 62 Bel Air bubble tops with Impala trim and extra tail lights. The black one also has two moldings just below the rear window that are actually from a 61 Impala bubble top.

 

Here you can see how the blue 62 Bel Air has the top from the white 61 Impala and the body of the red 62 Impala. These 62 Bel Airs were never on my radar back in the 90's when I had my Impala's, now I think they're my favorite early 60's Chevy.
