I feel similar about guns. Feels like you’d get slot of mileage out of a bow and a slingshot.

    1) get by with a little help from your friends. 2) All that fun camping stuff ya got. 3) there's places that will send help pronto, since its not everywhere. If not... then well, back to 1+2 and hopefully your friends have abilities to react too.

Tbh. It'll be a long, long time until I run out of 22lr. Not that I can't do decently with a bow, mind you. But if kinetic solutions are your solution... you need to talk about watchstanding and personnel available. Going back to social networks (of the not-internet kind)

Something moving at 1k+ FPS is pretty darned hazardous in the right spot, at least to critters. If not, it'll at least leave a mark. But 'running out of 22' is a whole supply chain switch, and being that 22 is still the cheapest thing out there, buys you a lot of leeway if you need a kinetic solution to your woes. Which, again, isn't recommended. Make friends, and friends of friends. That's the best solution.

You know what brings friends? Food. "hey the harvest came in, a bunch will go to waste if you guys can't make it down to help". Hrm.. folks even have festivals for that stuff. Go figure.

So sometimes when I'm out on the course in the morning I listen to podcasts. This morning I was listening to Tucker Carlson and he has a guest that is homesteading/ preparing for the Apocalypse. Even if you don't agree/like Tucker Carlson if you're really interested in this subject you ought to check out the podcast. The guy's name is Tucker Max.

Some smoking pellets and a tube. You can use one for all sorts of things from cheese to meats to even seasonings.

Why have boring food when you're locked down? Even smoked Kosher salt is way better than just salt.

It would take more than pellets and a tube to properly smoke some fish etc, but it would be something for you to ponder.

Speaking of fish, do you have fishing gear on your list? Fishing line has a multitude of uses including snares and the ol tin can alarm systems etc.

While you're at it, add some paracord to your list too.

I'm guessing you've not really examined this guy's CV. He won't last one day once he runs out of coke and shrooms. LOL

I dunno, he might have it all sorted. :burp:

“I bought a liter of Everclear, a quart of Gatorade, and a can of Red Bull, and poured all of it into my CamelBak. I come prepared. We arrive at the lacrosse house, and I begin sucking back the Everclear/Gatorade/Red Bull mixture, which I will hereafter refer to as “Tucker Death Mix.” It tasted like ghetto romance. It was awesome.”

Agreed, disaster preparedness is a much more reasonable thing (and realistic) to prepare for.

Is your area prone to wildfires, flooding, hurricanes, etc? Great, make a plan for that. And your timeline of a week is a good place to start. I believe the CDC or other government org has detailed recommendations for disaster prep. Easiest one is never letting your car gas tank get below half full.

So really start with water, food, and sanitation. Shelter and warmth should be easier, since you're already in a house.

Guys, check out this bad boy I found in the creek the other day. Something killed it for me. I passed on the sushi, but this would definitely be fair game in these survival scenarios. I probably spent five minutes just vibing, staring at it’s lovely eye while it stared back at me. I went back later to measure it. Anyone know what kind it is?

Well I listen to his podcast, and most people would tell you I'm a pretty level-headed practical person, and based on what he said and what you're typing here, having not listen to the podcast and just making assumptions, I have an opinion on who the idiot is.

I mean you do realize he was co-owner of scribe media and is listed with a net worth of $5 million dollars.

So what? Do you know what scribe media is/does? You must eat shrooms too. Or maybe you're Tucker Max, or his mom.
