Not really sure how I ended up at this point, but changed my air filter for the first time on my 2018 with 85k. I probably didn't really need to replace it because it was still clean. I really didn't think about it because I check it at every oil change and it still was clean, but after realizing that it was the OE filter, I figured it was time. I guess there just isn't as much dust blowing around in FL to justify the replacement.

Engine air filter changes are overrated. A dirty filter just acts as a restriction on the intake, same as if the throttle wasn't fully open. Maybe you gain a couple HP with a fresh one, but I doubt you'd notice unless it was extremely dirty.

The cabin air filter is good to change. Your blower will have to work slightly harder if the filter is dirty.

Not expecting much from the swap. I could still see light in the old one. Just shocked that I went so long without replacing it. I have replaced the cabin filter several times.

Yeah the OEM air box intake location is fairly well protected if you keep your fender liners. The off road environment in my region means driving on gravel roads for an hour before reaching the trail head. That's an hour in a dust cloud when going in a convoy. I haven't cleaned my Volant filter since installation 5 years and 30k miles ago, and it's still good according to Volant's instructions.
