New 2023 TRD OR MT pending sale

Saw this, dealer says its sale is pending. Turns out I’ll have to wait for my next Tacoma. Figured I’d put this up in case the sale falls through and someone can scoop it up.

 

Was that in Lebanon, PA? I got mine there, first time I ever paid list price!. Pleasant sales experience, finance dept wasn't to pushy with the add-ons that cost up to 18k more. Had scuffed interior door panel from transport that we noticed and was on the 'We owe you' list but they never filed the claim with Toyota. Dealers have 48 hrs to report damage after it comes off the truck and a different dealer cannot file it. Oil was overfilled just over a quart on the V6 that even my local dealer misread. Measured oil in the drain pan and got an extra 17.5 oz after local dealer had drained 16 oz when i told them to check it. At the last minute during delivery they spring a first right to purchase agreement you must sign. They want $25k if you sell it elsewhere within 1 year, probably not legal but we drove 4.5 hours to get there. It took quite a while to get the out of state plates from their 3rd part processor. Temps had almost run out.

 

Yes, Lebanon, PA. I was just about to fly out from CA to pick it up and a quick e-mail response told me that the sale is pending. Glad I didn’t fly out and deal with the nonsense. They sound like a nightmare. Their purchase agreement sounds completely illegal.

 

First time I've heard of a Toyota dealer doing this let alone on a Tacoma. Typical with some Ferrari/Porsche and a few other niche models of other makes.

 

Pfffft.... $25k if you sell it elsewhere in 1 year?.... yea right.... would love to see them actually
file that in a court of law.

 

Everything else about dealing with them was great. Price stayed at original quote when they said the the 3rd party registration service charged more than expected they just reduced the price so the my final number stated the same. I was all done over the phone. Took a 30 mile test drive with the salesman Paij looking for a highway! Did not find one but did manage to get to 60 on a clear stretch of rural road. Apparently the owner past by another dealer and saw a hard to get vehicle that they sold for under list price a few weeks early being marked up something like 10k and got angry. I told them the only reason I'd sell within a year was if it was a lemon and then it would be to Toyota as a buyback.

 

I wonder how many brand new 3rd gens are still out there? I’m actually surprised to see this that has no miles and a TRD off-road at that.

Tell me about it. It popped up on Auto Trader and it's gone within a day. Darn, if it was closer, but CA to PA is a long way. Heck, it was sold before I could buy a ticket. HA!

Me, too! Heck, I thought all of the Tacomas had been sold. It popped up on Auto Trader under a search (update when new vehicles are listed) I ran and shocked the heck out of me. We’re in May ’24 and a new ’23 MT is still on the lot.

 

I say impossible. Not a manual, and who ever said it was? I'm on toyota.com regularly, this truck which is in my search range, never showed up. I still see autos as of tonight, no 2023 manual in months.

Not a manual, but Bennett Toyota has a 2023 SR. Been on the market for 193 days.

I don't think a new vehicle can ever be delivered with 0 miles. Just getting from the factory to the lot to the trains and ports for options installation takes several miles. i have never purchased a new car with less than 4 or 5 miles on it. It's probably a typo.

Fucking ridiculous 6.7k mark up for an SR! I paid 33k brand new for my '23.

 

That’s why it has been on their lot for 193 days. Got an email from my dealer listing $3713 off MSRP on a 2024 SR. Some dealers are trying to move trucks and some are not.

 

That shows up as a white SR and apparently the last 2023. They also have many white 2024 Tacomas in stock and transit. I hope they got the problem figured out with the Ice Cap white paint falling off around the windows. Reminds me of Ford's fiasco in the early 90s with the F-150s and the Probes having paint failure after they decided to leave out a few coating/dipping primer steps.

 

Yea, you can e-sign everything so you don't have to worry about all this stuff. I flew from CA to ID to pick up my tacoma and it was probably my best car purchase experience (minus the paying MSRP during covid) due to the fact that everything was taken care of over email/phone. I landed, a porter picked me up and took me to the dealership, then the sales rep handed me a key and I was driving home. Don't fly until you've signed everything.

 

correct, I think the dealers usually list all new with "0 miles" despite actually having some on it for transport and PDI.
