Slap a regulator and a sealed battery in? When my CT90 was original, I boiled away a battery since that was basically the voltage regulator and decided screw this, this is easy enough to get moderned up. Also, if the rectifier is an old selenium one, be careful that shits toxic and you can probably find a newer modern one that'll help with voltage spikes.

Hey, my dog's name is Archer too...

In other news...R3 plate fell off today. Not sure if it was this morning or Friday evening on my way home but definitely on my commute as I didn't ride this weekend. Hoping I'll spot it but shouldn't be too hard to replace. Not really sure how as I just put it back on last week and it was pretty snug. the mounting hardware is still there as well lol

One of the corners of the plate on my Grom cracked and I have no idea how. My best guess is just from the vibrations constantly wiggling it. It's only bolted in at the top and just kind of flops. Wonder if something similar happened?

Thanks, ya this bike is from an era I definitely miss, I’ve taken it to a few car shows and it’s always fun to talk with people that can relate to it

I’ve thought about doing that, the battery acid is terrible, it seemed to have leaked near the top of the battery and not down the vent tube, what a mess. I did replace the rectifier with a new modern one but it unfortunately didn’t seem to help. I’ll post what I end up doing.

Yup now that I think back on it, i recall seeing a small crack at the one hole it was mounted on (probably similar to yours @spencermarkd). Must have said "enough is enough" lol.

My F800GS's plate has been held on by zip ties for years. I'm actually kind of amazed it's never popped one with UV exposure and whatnot.

It's a twin but definitely living in the higher end of the RPM range. suspension is also still set for the track so it's extra stiff lol. Every now and then I'll hit a bump just hard enough and feel the rear catch a split second of air. Should probably adjust that down...

upload_2024-5-6_13-40-10.png dont have any recent pic but thats when the one side broke lol its now held by zipties and is still going strong!
i mean twins are still thumpy lol just not as thumpy im sure living in the higher rev range and stiff suspension helped it break haha

You guys ever tried threaded rubber grommets or well-nuts for your plates? Might help with the cracking. Some of the plastic fairing parts are done this way to keep them from cracking.

Alright alright so don't judge me lol I'm for sure not looking for the rare plastics for a drz and not buying these for my dirt plastics to not destroy the green ones...

Why not try to find more green ones so you have a spare set? Swapping plastics seems like a lot of work for occasional dirt, but I'm lazy AF so...

Green usually are pricey AF since more rare.. plus yellow is cool AF lol plus 80 bucks ya know. And swapping plastics isn't that hard tbh. It's more for if I got to a true dirtbikes weekend I'll do the swap of everything. Just running around town off-road I won't lol. Plus if I find another drz and yes if I found a cheap one I'd snag it lol I can make it yellow

Also that's logical thinking and we don't do that around these parts!
