Agreed. Back in the good ole days (2021) I got my 4x4 SR5 new off the lot for $32K. But that was when it was uphill both ways to the dealership during a snowstorm.

I hadn't looked in a bit. Weird pricing in it though. $6700 on the Sport, under 5k on the Off road (I think) and 2500 ish on the limited. Can't see it on the Trailhunter because they haven't released it with the other engine. Which makes me wonder if they will.

    Holy crap.

My '22 TRD Off-Road's MSRP was $39k and back then I thought that was still quite expensive...

My 18 Sport MT was $35 with a tech package. The next truck will probably be new to me. After the Taco dies...

I see Frontier Pro 4X's at around 40K, seems like a pretty good bargain compared to a base Tacoma.

This makes my '22 expensive in comparison. My TRD Off-Road has the 6MT, but doesn't have the tech package

I was talking to someone the other day about the 1981 Ford Escort my parents bought new..yeah I know, big difference but bear with me. After they were out a year or maybe a tad less, it came out some were having fires when filling the gas tank. Stupid little ground wire was all it took.

More truck than I'd need but if I was in the market I'd be looking at the Frontier also.

We had bought my wife's Rav4 the prior year (used with 16K miles) and had my Tacoma paid off already. We spent our stimulus getting a hole in the garage roof fixed, my pool deck repaired, and a tree cut down that really should have been done several years prior. That all said I don't dispute your chain of events either, since people were getting their money back basically on vehicles several years old.

I do think in the near future we're susceptible to some kind of financial market issues and if I were a betting man, I'd say that vehicle repos will at least be a part of such.

And if they don't, it ain't the end of the world to have it done or to DIY if you're handy. My 2010 wasn't even prewired for foggies. I don't have cruise but a friend with the same truck got it wired for about $400..if I drove on the highway all that much I'd pop for it. No backup camera for me, but same thing it's easy enough to do if I chose to.

In 2021 I had a 2019 Frontier DCSB for about 2 months, one of the rentals while my frame was being replaced. Didn't have a lot of frills..more than my Tacoma but that doesn't take much to do. It was more truck than I would use but I'd certainly think about one if I needed a truck now, ideally a single cab but I doubt they make them so I'd have to settle for an access.

Just buy it, put it in the garage and don't touch it. 20 years, take it out, dust it off and enjoy your cheap new truck while the rest of us are paying $100k for TRD Pro organically fed flying sewing machines. $40k will be a bargain.

I looked at an Off-road ACLB MT in black at the same time. My salesman told me I wasn't going to by it. I asked him why he thought that. "Because you looking back at the Inferno Sport." He was right.

I'd bet the wiring was there. I installed cruise on a 2012 (same wiring harness as a 2010) and it literally cost $15, the price of the stem from Amazon) and took about 45 minutes. The toughest part was inserting the wire into the same, shared electrical power space as the horn button.

I haven't personally tried it but my buddy has the exact truck and it wasn't.

In full disclosure they are both 2010 regular cabs so they have basically diddly shit for options. I know I wasn't prewired for foggies for a fact.

No one has mentioned that the SR has leaf springs and less HP than the higher models SR5's and up.
