Keep in mind that most full-size trucks have big discounts right now that you don't see on the build sites.

Exactly this, MSRP v transaction price are 2 different things! I was seeing Trail Boss LT's at $15,000 off MSRP in March.

While this is true, I didn't feel like it was genuine to put a discount into one but not the other. Direct comparison, build to build, MSRP to MSRP.

Toyota is the highest selling automaker in the country YTD. Chevy GM has sold 500k combined. I think theyll be ok

I dunno, I personally think that 50k for a midsize truck crosses some line in people's mind that causes trepidation. Combos poorly with monthly payment shoppers.

I agree but at the end of the days it's all about what we want to spend. Most people entering the truck market are going to shop every angle since trucks are so expensive and interest rates are so high. Msrp vs Msrp doesn't really matter since it may not be price you will actually be paying.

The Silverado has changed. It had a face lift, new drivetrain and a completely new interior and dash 2 years ago.

I don't expect Toyota Tacoma to discount like an American full size. Historically they never have. Even if the silverado was the same as it was in 2019, you still are getting a lot more truck for the price and buyers see that.

Trust me, I'm not a chevy fan either lol. I had to lemon law my Silverado.

I also think Toyota has lost some of its creditability when it comes to being that die-hard bullet-proof truck. People simply won't pay the Tacoma premium price when they are no better than the mid-size competition.

I mean joke's aside if I was buying new today I'd be in a frontier or ranger before a tacoma, for exactly this. The 2.3 and 10R80 in the ranger has been bulletproof and in the mustangs before the rangers. The newer engines have also been good, as far as I know, I haven't been keeping up with it. The new Frontier is still an NA V6, so if I wanted to have that instead of the 4 banger turbo (and a lot cheaper), there's that.

    :D

Prices are WAY too high, and the interest rates are very high...Plus its a new power platform, so people are going to wait for reliability reports and if Toyota does tuning and or changes for the better.

When I bought my 2011 TRD off road 4 door 4x4 w/JBL the sticker was 29k I got for 28K ( I paid cash) out the door and Toyota Finance if I remember was .9 % for well qualified buyers at the time.

I never said it was a new generation...Read what I said. It aligns with your quote above lol.

And it doesn't matter if the Tacoma is newer here. Its price for price and what you get for it... You are trying to prove a point that is irrelevant.

Yes, the big 3 American have over stock right now. They over produced trucks. But who cares, It's a winning situation for people looking to buy one.

    Sheesh....

I remember back in 2016 everyone on TW was losing their minds when the 3rd gen TRD PRO was listed at 40k. I should've bought 2 back then.
