True....everybody I knew when growing up had guns in their house (including my dad), we all knew not to fuck with them.
I think what she's asking is concerning kids being in her house but only on occasion...my advice to @Gen1TacoLady would be to keep a gun within easy reach (of yourself) but keep your bedroom door locked when having vistors.
I personally wouldn't use a lock box, I prefer being able to reach over and touch my gun when I'm in bed.

Just to clarify....'touch my gun' means touch my gun, not something more.....devious.
