NoDak are you an engineer? And if so, what kind? (I need both education and work experience to make the next determination).

Only if you answer satisfactorily will we accept your opinion on this guy's opinion.

Disclosure: I didn't watch the video (I likely won't); I'm just here for the shit soup now.

according to him, you need to be creating your shit to be classified as an engineer. shit I guess I'm not an engineer then as I work with mine wastes, despite the fact that I'm registered.

I'm a licensed PE (with a Civil/Environmental Engineering bachelor's degree). The guy's bio says he has a Bachelor of "Applied Science" from UBC. I doubt that is an ABET accredited engineering degree simply because, well, it doesn't say "engineering". An "Executive Certificate Program...Sloan School of Management" from MIT sounds impressive, but again I'm not sure that is in any way shape or form an engineering degree. An "Executive Program at Harvard" likewise does not sound like an engineering degree. So, the guy calling himself an engineer for every youtube video is probably legal as long as it is not considered the actual practice of engineering but I'm going to opine that it is more for clicks than actual engineering credentials. Of course his work experience may put him in squarely in the realm of automotive engineering regardless of education, but yeah, I'm also of the opinion of that I would trust the CCN more than I would this guy when it comes to automotive engineering (even though the CCN is not an engineer, nor does he claim to be one).

Just an opinion. I don't mean to fan the flames anymore than they have already been fanned.

UBC is ABET-certified. Get your facts straight lol

A lot of engineering schools in Canada grants BSc and BASc. That does not mean that it's not an engineering degree. Sheesh so much for touting to have a PE.

Anyways I rest my case. No need to discuss this stupidity further.

I apologize. I read his bio without seeing the P.Eng. and didn't realize that you folks up north call undergrad engineering degrees applied science.

Not trying to tout my profession. Engineers often deserve the flak they receive and I'm not overly proud of being one. Physicists, however....

If they keep dragging their feet on EVs, they will have to use the 3 cylinder from the GR Corolla in the 5th gen Tacoma.

Don't worry, we'll still have a YouTube video explaining why it's the pinnacle of Toyota engineering.

Then we'll have some fanboys explaining how it's half of a V6, and therefore better than a 4 cylinder (which is kind of true from a balance perspective by the way, if you have 120 degree offset crank arms. It's half of an inline 6, which has perfect primary and secondary balance).

On a different note, the design of the sliders is unique, and shows us what a engineered solution looks like versus a wildass guess from a fab shop. Shelton had said in a different video that the sliders were designed to support the GVWR. To do this, it is noted how many more struts are required to connect the rails to the frame, and the higher moment of inertia each strut has versus tubing everyone else uses. Fab shops should take a Mechanics of Elastic Bodies course before putting stuff out on the market.
