    Ya. Largemouth, walleye and others.
    Different times for different species.
Also times may vary by area and waterway.
Lot of rules for sizes and limits and they change. Have to be aware of the rules where you fish.
You never know where the DNR will show up.

I like Ugly Sticks. They're my favorite for live bait or cut bait fishing.

I've also had really good luck with store brand rods. I have a couple of Cabela's salt Striker rods that I use for casting jigs and worms for bass, and they have held up very well. I broke one down in Florida this year but that was due to my own stupidity.:anonymous:

Edit: I've had a few Cherrywood rods. I always thought they were really nice for the price. But, they are a little fragile.

As @bkhlrTaco's mentioned, most game fish are closed during the spawning season. But, Bass spawn later in the season, so they're usually spawning during Open Season. There used to be a catch and release only season for Smallmouth bass up north, but I'm not as familiar with the regulations as I used to be.

This is true. I used to stay up to date on the changes very well. I even remember correcting a warden when the bait regulations changed like 10 or 15 years ago. But, since I don't fish as much as I used to I have been slacking off. I need to download the regulations and go through them because I want to fish more this year than what I have been lately.

The other day, somebody told me that bass were open for catch and release during the closed season now. They said it had changed a few years ago, but I have not confirmed. This could be good news for spring bass fishing.

I'm not clear on all the regulations either.
Some examples are Lake Wissota walleye you could only keep 5 between 12-18".
When I lived in Merrill. It's split by hwy64.
Rules North of 64 were different than rules South.
One year I caught my limit of bass in a matter of an hour out at Grandfather Falls off hwy107
Got home and my old man was like, uh, you aren't supposed to keep those yet.
Well, too late, they're here now.

My Missouri/Arkansas fishing expeditions are 99.99% catch and release. No cooler and working out of a rental kayak or off public docks usually* means DNR will ignore you lol.

Then again, it's usually at the same time on the same lake every year, so..... :anonymous:

Definitely need to be more in the know. Oops

    I'm mostly catch and release.
I like getting out and exploring. Fishing remote areas that can't even be reached by a boat.
That's what started the truck mods.
    Being able to dredge deeper.
Edit: Right in the thick of it.

Email? Uh, no. It's bat to the knee cap time....rustle some folks up.

    So far so good.
I didn't check but hopefully the engine skid comes with smooth bolts.
The hex bolts are for the spacer needed to use with oem guard.

I'll hit the back side of that x-member before the t.c.plate gets here.
    (3-4 week lead time)

I'm just glad I didn't do anything dumb like put the cat guards on backwards.

Transfer case and x-member skid shipped today so I guess "hitting it later" means in the next 3-5 days.
