I purchased this guy...Fumoto fits just inside the TRD Skid; plastic insert has stayed intact.

I guess we don’t have to worry about hearing from you again. I think we will all do just fine- thanks.

no need to get bent out of shape because someone chose not to buy a product you have a high opinion of. I tried to buy it, what was delivered is not what was ordered, and for $40, that shouldn't be an issue. Let's say the order was properly fulfilled, I had already planned to correct one shortcoming of the valve with either a spacer, or on a mill.

So I reconsidered the purchase and concluded that a ball valve adds unnecessary potential failure points(internal seats and the stem), with the minimal upside of being able to connect a hose to drain my oil with less mess, which is not currently an issue for me (TRD skid works fine with the factory drain plug). My drain plug has always been properly torqued so I am not worried about failure of the threads, it has never leaked or loosened between 5k OCIs.

I get that a failure of the valve is highly unlikely, but why take a chance with something that important to save 2 minutes every 3-4 months? if speed and cleanliness are a must there appear to be products on the market that have a redundant failsafe in place to prevent catastrophic failure that can be caused by losing oil, whereas the fumoto does not.

    edit:
JFC, i just read the original post, your first paragraph is exactly what I am talking about.

I was very skeptical about the Fumoto Valve myself.

As a matter of fact, I was skeptical about the Aluminum Housing! lol

There were incidents leading up to my reluctance but I got over it and installed them both prior to this most recent oil change last month.

I don't know what I was thinking but probably that I wasn't going to install Fumoto properly.

Anyhow, I finally got everything situated and plucked some positivity to make installing both products work to my satisfaction.

I've posted pics of the initial messy oil change as well as the cleaner version by way of Fumoto & ease of removing the Aluminum Housing.

I can honestly say, these products work for me.

If it doesn't work for you, that's your decision...you gotta do what makes you feel at ease with your truck.

of course you can choose to do whatever you like. But I’ll just say this. Their valves very similar to this Fumoto oil drain valve that are installed on aircraft. Valves have been And you since the mid 60s.

Seems like you are overthinking it, either get the valve or don’t.

I have one on my tacoma, had one on my corolla. Makes oil changes simple and quick. Every single piece of heavy equipment I maintain at work has a fumoto valve, none of them have the plastic lock pieces. Can't say I've ever seen a leaking one in the 10 years I've been a heavy duty tech here.

Use one, don't use one. doesn't really matter to me what other people do.

Seems like you didn't read the post, I am returning the Fumoto valve since they sent me a different one than I ordered, and I am not bothering to order again since every "problem" it solves is a non-issue. How are you going to read that and say I must be overthinking it while ignoring the OP that lists 684 reasons why nobody can live without one.

I'm tending to think you aren't correct in anything you say. You mention me and say I think everyone should have one- NOT TRUE. You are the poster child form Mis-Information.

Listen guy, don't come at me like I'm some sort of dummy. I'm not the one who posted 22 possible ways to fuck up an oil change, bought a gimmicky valve, and still managed to fuck that up. You are the poster child of "people who should just leave it to the dealership techs". Hopefully whatever you do for a living doesn't require mechanical skills or have a lot of other people's safety or well-being at risk.

OFFICIAL NOTICE- you are officially notified as being FORBIDDEN to ever becoming a Fumoto owner. The proper officials have been notified.

Well, I'm sure he is heart broken. You sure told him.

I'm surprised this site allows shills. Do they pay you to shill like this? That's pathetic.

Oh, I read everything you typed. You jabbered on about all kinds of other stuff. Don’t just bring up. What’s the most convenient for trying to prove your point. When you buy Parts and what not from Amazon those resellers will often mix up the order. You will often get fake parts the price you pay for dealing with somebody like Amazon.

    I feel like people are getting a bit over-invested in internet-forum opinion-making.

But that's just one guy's opinion, on the internet, of course.

Agreed. From what I've experienced and read about those who have had/or do have the valve, almost all, if not all, who have tried the valve like them and tend to be a lifetime customer. Those who think the valve is something frivolous and doesn't solve any problems are those who have never tried one. It's kind of like someone who says they HATE lobster but have never had one, lol. And I wonder who will be the one to switch the lobster thing for something else, if you know what I mean?

I know what you mean, man. We need to form a coalition of Fumoto supporters & eliminate the enemy. The nation's future depends on it. :oldglory:

Also bro -- your username checks out!:rofl::rofl:

No enemies here. I was obviously kidding when I said he was on NOTICE, lol. Nobody needed to do that. He put himself on notice. I do find it fascinating we are in deep over 500 posts and they chime in with "you guys are overthinking it, and, you are finding a solution to a non-problem." They either have amazing stamina to wade through all those posts or they are jumping to the end and ignoring everyone's input. I don't get it.

I'm just about the opposite. I'll start reading a thread and I'll start replying to posts that are already discussed many times over if I just waited to get to the end before commenting- ugh.
