Really? If I fill it with oil and then change the filter it wont all drain out? Nice!

I would NOT do that. Even a tiny hole, under pressure you could lose a good bit of oil and your engine fast...

Call the dealer and maybe they'll have some shred of sympathy and get a less expensive tow there. I would not drive that!

Had this same problem. Get the aftermarket aluminum made by motivx as someone else mentioned, and use a heat gun on the housing first on a low setting. You don’t want to melt it, but get it warmed up. Should come right off.

    1) Get a 5lb tub of creatine and start hitting the gym
    2) once you get it off, do not over tighten it when you reinstall it.
    3) if you can F up a plastic oil cap, you can really F up a metal one

 Just make sure you put some motor oil on the threads & don't gorilla it on there.

    You'll be fine :)

It worked for me. I spent about five to ten minutes on a medium low setting gradually getting it warm. After that, no problem. Make sure to clean the threads on the housing and the cap of any debris or old oil that might be in there. Then smear some fresh oil on the threads before reinstalling. Same goes for the new O ring. I can guarantee the people at the dealership probably didn’t do that and caused it to seize up. Plus they most likely over torqued it too

For the record, I believe the spec is 18 ft. lb for the oil filter housing. 2 ft. lb. may not make a difference. :notsure:

I believe that’s correct. I’ve always done 30 drain /20 filter /10 filter drain cuz it’s easiest to remember.

Hey, a related question (maybe).....I've seen youtubes of folks spraying brake clean in the plastic housing and inside where the housing connects to the engine before putting it all back together. How do folks feel about this to get rid of debris? I think brake clean just evaporates and won't contaminate, but wanted opinions (and I know I'll get opinions from being around this place for a year or so....LOL) No, I'm not "parting it out" and no, it's not Friday funnies.

Someone, somewhere has to have video of the oil change technicians ( for lack of a better word) putting these things on with Herculean effort and 185+ ft lbs...

removing the oil filter will not drain the oil that is in the engine pan.

There is no gap to collect debris and spay the cleaner. The lip on the cap is flash with the lip on the housing when installed correctly.

I use isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle to flush/rinse. Shop air to dry

Sorry for the late reply, but I bought an Impact Wrench and got it off with ease. Installed the new filter, metal housing, and one of those Quick Drain Valvo oil plugs too so next change should be easy. Thanks for the help fellas!
