You know after 34 pages and 700 post it’s crazy that no one bother to ask that question. You win the internet today.

Just a tip for the internet: people tend to ignore or get frustrated when they read a post from someone too lazy to read a thread then ask mind numbing questions.

I don’t think my question was mind numbing at all, yes there are a lot of post about what could have went wrong and how to fix it but the obvious is the engine was not properly maintained.

I think OP is just messing with everyone to see who can figure out that the oil was never changed or if it was very few times.

I didn’t read the entire thread because it’s a bunch BS OP knows that engine was not maintained properly.

So, you’re trying to say he’s lying and he made all this crap up to gain attention? what would drive you to get to that point?

It’s pretty obvious when OP says “Toyota Serviced Don't remember intervals, whatever they told us to do. Never had anything done on the engine.” OP has no idea of the maintenance on the engine that’s why I asked “Can you post a print out documenting all the oil changes?”

If the oil was changed at the correct intervals at the dealer paper trail wouldn’t be hard to get just go Toyota.com look it up.

I am not saying this is a Troll Thread at all! I’m just saying there is no way that engine was maintained most likely very few oil changes if any. Just look at the picture of the engine compartment that truck has been used and abused.

I agree with you the dealer may have done all the oil changes, maybe all 3.

Edit: I would love to see all the service history and parts billing.

I guess the better question is why even bring this up at this point. The OP did not go back to the dealer asking them to replace the engine. He bought a used engine to replace it and is asking for help to get it running correctly. :notsure:

That’s fine and dandy but don’t get on here and make out like the engine just started knocking and don’t know why because it was well maintained at the dealer. Anyone who has any knowledge about engines can see this one was used and abused.

d00d, I think you should calm down, count to 10, read more of the thread, and then post your comments.

I have knowledge about engines as well and I have seen some things that do not make sense in my time. Even if he is lying, which cannot be proved, what is the reason to call him out when you have no first hand knowledge of the situation and there is nothing to gain?

Are you saying you agree with what OP has said? I’m not trying to start an argument here just making a point. You are absolutely right nothing to gain just wasting time since everyone seems to agree with OP.

I take it face value because I can't prove otherwise. I'm not sure everyone is agreeing or disagreeing, just trying to help the guy get his truck back on the road.

You need to get a life all you do is surf the forums looking for someone to criticize! I just made a statement and it’s an opinion and you know what they say about opinions.

We checked with Toyota and the cam gear parts seem to be the same for 2017 and 2019, so I guess we're safe using the far less dirty newer part. I also tried to compare the picture I took of the original timing marks when we first pulled off the cover. We rotated the crank a few times to make sure the marks still line up where we think they should. We're using the original older center bolts, which do look different oil ports slightly changed.

I think all this means it has a reasonable chance of running right, anything else we should check before re-assembly?
