This is right up my wife's alley. The first paper she wrote in nursing school was on hypo/hyperkalemia and potassium shifts. I described your situation, she goes, he's probably having arrhythmia. Ding. She said you secrete it when having bowel movements so diarrhea will leave your levels dangerously low.

She also said potassium never gets pushed into an IV, it has to be on a drip or oral. Pushed is deadly.

Give your wife a gold star. What I was on the monitor at the ER I threw 3 PVC's that they saw. That’s Premature Ventricular Contractions not the pipe for the rest of you. No diarrhea recently so I’m not sure why my level dropped.

Employers will generally tell you what the benefits are going to be once you meet the probationary period requirements during the hiring process.

That doesn’t seem right? Work for us for x amount of months then we’ll tell you the bennys… My employer was really transparent in letting us know at hire what they would be after certain benchmarks. But then again, it’s a union gig..

Good morning everyone and welcome to Wednesday :hattip:

Good luck with your decision @six5crèéd

If you take a water pill(some cardiac drugs)some can pull potassium, but the Florida heat as you know can and as we age we doint hydrate as easy as we did in our youth.

Good morning friends of the interwebs! Hope all of you have an awesome day :hattip:

I talked to my wife and slept on it, woke up at 4 something this morning and decided $1.50 isn't enough to make me switch jobs, at this time. My boss has been good to me with Christmas bonuses, 3 weeks vacation, side jobs, free range of the shop tools, etc. I'm okay with driving an hour one way for now and getting to bring the kids with me to work on Fridays. More money won't make me happy, being content makes me happy :D

@six5crèéd on your job journey as you know benefits is king. And you know what you need and want. Get the cash up front but the better benefits win after the wife gets her say.
Good luck with your decision it will be the best for you.

Thanks. I googled the LMNT drink mix, holy sodium content! I bet it works well for re-hydration but I do try to watch my sodium intake due to the high BP. I’ve got some Liquid IV electrolyte mix that I swiped from my son that doesn’t have as much sodium and more potassium. I’ll ask the doc about the LMNT.

I’m not on a diuretic (yet). I do drink a lot of water and wondered if that has anything to do with it. After my morning coffee, it’s water the rest of the day. I’ve never measured my water intake but based on my big gulp sized mug it’s probably close to a gallon a day.

    Morning everyone!
It’s not always about the money!
How your treated and respect says a lot!
I would have switched jobs a while ago but I’m comfortable where I’m at they trust what I say and do!
Doing incoming inspection from outside vendors they have always stood behind me. I have to let vendors know what’s wrong and if it’s scrap or how to fix it and move on.
I abuse my time off don’t really comply with rules except safety stuff.
Guess my head is a big one I pretty much do what I want but they let me do it for now.
But being older I don’t care!!
I may have to work a few more yrs but it doesn’t mean I have to work here.

Too much water isn't good my sister drank so much water she was washing out the good stuff. I had a friend who was drinking a ton of water and ended up shuting down his kidneys and died because of kidney failure.
I too am on BP meds. and a diuretic and eat a bananna a day never had a problem yet. Had my heartattack at 42 and I'm 57 now and if it wasn't for back problems for the past 18 months, I could be in pretty good shape.
Listen to your Doctor and body it was just a small set back but your on it now.
