I don't know about full size but it definitely feels bigger and weightier than my 5th gen 4Runner. It's probably a combination of the massive square hood and smaller windows/less visibility.

In cabin feels bigger when in reality it is smaller than the 4Runner.

TRDOR automatic also has a short box configuration. My dealer ordered a new demo and I was surprised when I saw it as I thought short box was only for manuals for 2024.

Only the premium grade in the TRD off-road has the short box.

    back to bone stock.
my 23 is paid off. there is nothing short of a catastrophic event getting me into a 24 at this point. I don't overthink my vehicles anymore, and I don't worry about what others drive and trying to keep up with everyone else. that is too expensive. I havent even set foot into a 24.

I'm not sure how the the Third Gen and Fourth Gen compare in size, but my impression is they are pretty comparable with the Fourth Gen being somewhat larger. And the Second Gen and Third Gen were also pretty close. And given that, they are both about as large as the original Tundra or an F150 from 2000. Mid size trucks have ballooned to the size of older full sizes trucks and full size trucks have become even larger. This is part of an increase in American car size overall.

Why? There are lots of factors, but the main (not only, main) reason why American trucks have grown is because of EPA regulations. The larger the size, the more relaxed the emissions standard. For a true mid size truck experience, the First Gen really is the best Gen.

A 1990 F-150 is 3" longer, 2" wider, and .6" taller; the 1st Gen Tundra is 5" longer, 2" wider, but 2" shorter; also appears that the 1st Gen Tundra was a couple hundred pounds heavier too. Even though its not as large as the old F150's and Tundra's, you are correct in saying that it has grown in size over the years for sure though.

well if you look at a 2015 f150

    209-251″ L x 80″ W x 75-77″ H

    that 209L is for a 5.5ft bed.

The numbers l went with was for the extended cabs, because that was the only way you could compare aa Tacoma with a 90's F150 or 2000 Tundra.

I don't agree. The 2000 Tundra curb weights maxed out at 4644. That was a loaded out 4x4 Limited. The 4G Tacoma TRD Pro is 5500lbs, and the Trailhunter is 5590.

Right, the TH is a different beast, thought it was in reference to the ordinary Tacoma.

I've been driving full size trucks (F150, Ram 1500) exclusively for the past 25 years and plan to downsize hopefully next year. I don't need to haul the family or gear much anymore, but still like driving a truck and being higher than a car, and not really a fan of SUV except a wrangler. I've never actually sat in a mid-size but expect it will feel considerably smaller.

I previously owned a 3rd gen and am now in a 4th gen. The new truck’s ride height is noticeably higher and it’s also wider, I believe. It definitely feels bigger. I got reminded of its true size the other day when a full size Ford pulled up beside me, however. I liked how I could confidently drive my 3rd gen through some curves, but I haven’t gotten there just yet with the new one. I loved my 3rd gen and feel the same about the new one. I had also planned to wait a few years before purchasing, but then I drove the new one. I decided that I didn’t need the hybrid.

I really don't understand the point of 3rd genners coming in here to tell us they don't plan on getting a 4th gen.

Isn't that what Facebook is for?
