4th Gen feels like Full size truck

Right, that was 25 years ago.. times have changed and trucks have gotten.. bigger.

 

I picture most of them like:

 

I don’t want bigger. I want better.

Your "better" Tacoma is a 2.5 gen (2013-2015) 4.0L 4x4 6spd manual w/ tow package, in good condition with little or no frame rust. Enjoy!

 

The thing I like the most about the fifth generation 4runner was that it was almost the same size as a fourth generation.

My favorite Tacoma was the regular cab second Gen.

If I want a full-size I’ll buy a full-size, don’t turn a midsize into a 7/8 full-size pig.

I hope the Xtracab SR will be good when it comes out.

Carrying the time honored tradition of the last genners. 2nd gen guys did the same thing forever in the 3rd gen, even named it the turd gen.

Sour grapes is all it is . 4th gen drives so much better than that wheezy torque less 3.5 . The last gen was if not one of the least satisfying trucks to drive .

Looks are subjective but objectively the 4th gen is just better all around. Worrying about 4 banger problems that haven’t happened is asinine.

 

They’re all worried about a truck they don’t even own yet.

The turbo is in a very very accessible spot. So if it ever crapped out down the road it’ll be easy to replace.

I can’t wait until OTT and Yotawerx get this truck pumping out 320hp and 400 ft-lb torque.

It's all relative. I had a 2000 Tundra, and here's how that full size (at the time) compares to the 2024 Tacoma:

Well crap, that looks like my '24 might not fit in my garage. My 3rd gen stock height barely cleared the door and now it looks like the 4th gen is a wee bit taller than a slightly lifted. Well crap

 

A reminder for me that everyone’s life experiences are different. I’m not sure I’ve been in 1,000 different types of cars or trucks or buses in ~25 years of driving and hitchhiking and hanging with people, but it must be at least 500. I’ve sat and driven in everything I can.

Try a Tacoma! It ain’t half bad.

 

That pretty well continued into the 80s and even the early 90s. With the main difference being the full size trucks of that era were 4-5 inches wider than the mid sizes are now

 

I still see 67-72 C-series Chevy trucks on the road, it's rare I even see one that gets used as a truck.

I doubt if there will be any 3rd gens on the road nearly 55 years after their production date. That goes for any 2020 vehicle. Parts will be difficult to find, and who would keep something running that long nowadays?

 

Funny they chose a single cab to compare to a double cab. An accurate comparison would have both been 4 doors in which case the full size is much larger.
