Maybe I missed it but any other benefits like health, dental or vision? My kid flat out wouldn't be alive right now without good health insurance.

For me personally I would make up a simple chart that listed what each job had to offer. Having things on one sheet of paper was always helpful for me when making a big decision. It can also help you decide what might tip the scales in one job or the others direction.

Only thing he ask was if I needed health, I said not at the moment. Ours is cheap right now but that could change if the pay went up.

I'm realizing the benefits I have here now with the freedom I have and I'm home at 4:00 M-F. That's it, no OT at all. I'm sure they would want me to work more than 40.

Every company is different but if you are not receiving healthcare from the new company then they are saving a shit ton of money. My current employer (a municipal town in Maine) offers a health care buy back. If I can provide proof that I am covered by a healthcare plan outside of the plan the Town offers then they will give me a stipend once a month when my portion of the health care plan is due. They call it a healthy buy back. They use it as incentives for employees to us other health care plans so that the Town saves money. But that cost of health care can be anywhere from $5k-$10k or more. If the new company is not providing health care to you then they should be able to offer you more salary at no more cost to themselves.

Sounds like you're in the driver's seat. If you're on the fence about it, or still considering it at all throw some stipulations in there that would make it better for you.
For example, I paid over 7k for family insurance last year, and it's dang good insurance. If you don't want his health stuff, pay should go up in lieu of that.
Also my overtime is day by day, meaning if I work 12's m,t,w and take Thurs and Friday off, I still make 12 hours of overtime that week, based on an 8 hour day. There are wrinkles to the equation...

Money is nice, being content is nicer.
You have incredible freedom where you are now.

No matter what they say any production type place has overtime "when required".

They may phrase it all nice and pretty when they are "selling" to get you on board.

In the end the word mandatory is frequently used with the word overtime.

Been there, done that, got the commemorative T shirt for the decades of summer weekends, holidays & 12 plus hour regular days.

All I have left is a broken down body.

Funny thing about overtime - the moment the weather turns nice they "need" you - this continues all spring, summer & fall. :bananadead:

When it turns cold and the heating bills start coming in there usually isn't an extra hour to be had.

Basically. Mine is the Carhartt arc flash rated version, but same color. I don't even wear jeans anymore as I find the work pants are more comfortable.

I mean, I do still have a pair of hugger jeans... :anonymous:

I will wear jeans if we "go" someplace, they feel incredibly heavy. :ballchain:

The work pants are light and wear like iron - I wear them everyday.
