    2013 trd sport access cab.

trying to figure out my headlight settings.

when I turn on my drl, I only get the blinker lights (turn signals) to remain on. When I go to the next setting (forgive me I don’t know the name of it, icon is two beams going opposite ways), nothing changes on the lights. When I turn the dial one more setting to headlights on, the main beams kick on.

looking at my headlights, there are two small bulbs on the side of the main housing, but they never light up. What am I missing?

Maybe they're burnt out. Those should be the parking lights.

This. See image below. "Side marker light" is the parking light, Turn signal is also the DRL. In some aftermarket headlights, that setting will also activate the LED bars

Should be the second setting, where you say nothing changes.

1st activates DRLs, 2nd activates parking lights. 3rd dims the DRLs a bit and turns on the low beams.

Possibility of a fuse or is that a bulb issue?

what else turns on on that second setting other than the markers? My dash will illuminate as well.

Tacomas came with different configurations. I didn't have DRLs on mine.

For yours, the first setting is the DRLs (turn signal bulbs), second settings is the parking lights (side markers), and the 3rd is the headlights, at which point the DRLs should turn off since the headlights are on.

When you said "side of the main housing", I assumed you meant the side markers.

Do the tail lights come on? If so, the side markers might have burnt out, if not, then maybe it's a fuse.

I don't recall if the side markers were a pita to replace without removing the headlamp on the 2nd gen

Turns out both my markers were burnt out. Probably been that way for some time and I had no clue.

markers can pretty easily be changed out without any issue or removing housing, I have big hands, and it wasn’t a problem.

with that said , I’m pretty good at changing headlights. My wife has a 17 grand Cherokee and those headlights are damn near impossible to change. I have to remove the entire front fascia off the car, and remove the air box and ecu. It’s a night mare .
