I'm not going to say you should or shouldn't take the offer, but I do think you should evaluate what the reduction in your commute time is worth and any other benefits. You should also consider approaching your current employer and let him know you're considering this offer from someone trying to hire you away. Your current employer might value your experience a little more than he's currently paying you and offer to raise your wage to keep you employed with him.

 

I dunno having never gotten paid for overtime i can see it has its pros and cons. In the hourly pay its nice to get extra money, but you lose in the family/off time. If boss man forces you into working overtime thats another loss. Money isnt everything...and time cant be bought back.

Then theres job security...

 

In factories OT is the norm, the expression "work/life balance" isn't used.

It is understandable - orders need to ship on time and production takes man-hours.

I never particularly liked working OT (or working in general ) but was always thankful to have the work.

I always (privately) laughed at the people who constantly complained about working OT.

You work on a factory WTH do you expect?

I used to tell them "if you want nice regular hours get a degree and go work in a bank".

That ticked them off pretty good.

 

I thought it might look different with some coffee in you...

I'm still fat though so not sure if it's all worth it....

 

Sweet stuff really isn't my thing either - pasta, bread or potatoes on the other hand...
