Raptor lights are the Affliction shirts of the truck world. Like lifting a 2wd SR, wearing jeans with cute embroidery on the back pockets, Carolina lean… it all looks good to somebody I guess. Doesn’t bother me, but my taste is not quite so flamboyant.

Now, this image I can't get out of my head! lol

Those things just dangle like those metal testicles people add to the back of their truck! lol

The hanging bits on the back of the truck are tacky...the rings on the other hand were fine until I read them described on TW. lol

The nipple rings are functional and actually serve a purpose, especially off road . . . . and I suppose even if you never go off road if you got stuck in a ditch or live where there is heavy snow and got stuck (wouldn't know about the snow thing though as we don't do snow in these parts). But the bottom line is - it's your truck do it anyway you like. I mean why the chrome delete stuff or the Pro Grill at all or the Method wheels on and on and on. So yeah, Raptor lights are not my thing but then the Pro Grill is not my thing either because they are both too common at least around these parts in NC.

I prefer the TRX scoop lights instead.

Normally, I don't critique the ol' TW way...which varies depending on the member/personality.

I'd say those lights on the roof are for bigger rigs.

The Tacoma is a smaller 1/4 truck...nothing like the 1/2 Ton trucks that I would see more suitable of those type of lights.

I sort'a like them on a Raptor. On anything else I think it makes you a poser. It's no different than people putting Z28 decals on standard Camaro's or Z71 badges on a standard Chevy truck. I've even seen Rubicon badges on base model Jeeps. I've heard of people buying them and paying Rubicon prices without realizing what they had.

Ford did something unique to make their Raptor quickly recognizable. Jeep's have a distinctive grill. Dodge has the Ram hood ornament. If Toyota, or Toyota owners want to do something to their trucks to set them apart from everything else I'm fine with that, but don't copy Ford's idea.

If it were something that enhanced performance, I might feel different. But those lights are purely ornamental. They serve no purpose other than to create a distinctive look.

    Affliction shirts! OMG!!!

    If that's flamboyant, ok then.

The Raptor Lights (RL) addition is not quite the same...at least the "smoked ambers" I got are subtle during daylight (they turn on with headlights)

And when the RLs are on, they aren't profoundly bright in contrast with the headlights.

EDIT: If I added lights in the Skewp, that would be too much.

    It's one or the other.

LOL. I had a math teacher who used to say this. We could tell if he was having a good day because he'd say buttholes. But if he was having a bad day, he inserted assholes. LOL.

I don’t have raptor lights but bought a topper that actually had crossbars exceeding the 80-whatever” limit requiring those lights lol

I promptly chopped them down to normal width

So you guys actually think that adding those lights makes it look like a Ford, totally stupid observation!! My opinion!
This is why they came up with the saying, "Flogging a dead horse" aka beating!
Not sure if anyone would want a Raptor that owns a Tacoma, I'll go Tundra if anything!!!
I like mine, and they like me!!!!

Same reason people go to great lengths to eliminate every millimeter of chrome inside and out.

They serve no function, but to modify the look of the truck. Why? Why not? It is very similar to why you chose one color of vehicle over another color. Or whether to keep it stock or not. Personal preference. I love it that people choose to modify their Tacomas. I have seen some really cool mods and very much appreciate the time and money that it takes to do that. What it tells me is that Tacoma‘s are worth putting money into. A person doesn’t choose to drop a lot of cash into a vehicle if they don’t think that it’s worth doing. I have seen some silly examples otherwise but for the most part, I feel like I’m correct. Raptor lights are relatively inexpensive and are an easy mod to do that customizes the look of your truck.
Here’s my bias – I just picked up my truck today after having a 3 inch lift put on it with new wheels and tires. I do quite a bit of four wheeling so the lift and wheels and tires are a functional improvement but also make the truck look cool, I also have raptor lights! LOL!IMG_5578.jpg IMG_5565.jpg IMG_5567.jpg
