I've seen that error a hand full of times on mine. I just assumed it was the cheap map card I bought off ebay.

Did you ever get a solution to this error? I just installed mine last night, everything works except the oem GPS. Cords are plugged in, Micro SD card is in.

I imagine it's the module itself causing the issue and won't be fixed unless it's removed

I spoke with their rep via text and he stated he hasn't heard of this issue before. He had me recheck the connectors and making sure that they were not installed poorly. However, everything worked as intended. Anways, I bought a new 2024 (June 2023) SD Map off Amazon about a month ago. Surprisingly, the card had a "Toyota" text on it - not sure if it's genuine or not, but it worked after updating. Took about 10 minutes. No issues so far.
I informed him that a few other people had this similar issue but again, he said he has no idea why this would happen.

Don’t expect the newer radio to run flawlessly. I have to reboot the entune radio in my 2020 on the regular to get CarPlay to work at all; usually due to no audio.

    I see now. Thanks

Seems to run OK based on OP feedback. I think the best is to do the 23 Entune 3.0 from another Tacoma.

I had issues with my OEM NAV throwing the SD card error, after reseating the GPS port a few times it started working. This also affected the head unit's maintenance app as I could not reset any of the maintenance warning items after I installed the CarSyncTech unit. My only guess would be that the Quick SMA connector may not be seated properly.

So is the piggy box worth the 300 or do it right and get an entune 3.0 with harness

I have now had the CarSyncTech module in for about 1 month and it has been working great. Install was easy, but it does seem like the ribbon cable is pinched somewhat. Time will tell if it is an issue. Picture quality is great on google maps and OnX. The audio is still coming in over factory bluetooth so it sounds the same. Bonus feature I can connect my wife's phone via bluetooth and display my phone on carplay so I can see the maps from my phone and she can control the music from her phone.

Yeah, the head unit retains all factory functions.

Hi all. I’m from the 4Runner side but figured I can ask some questions on here regarding this unit as I’m sure we have similarities between the two Yotas :)

So I got the CTH unit in my 4Runner (limited), connected it up and it works. However after a few weeks I got some questions and maybe you gurus have the answer (the fb support group is garbage for CTH) is useless.

    1) Should my BT connection from my iPhone be to the OEM head unit ( Toyota BT connection) or to the CTH box? Because if I’m in the truck, and check under my BT connections I’m connected to the Toyota 4Runner BT connection which is the OEM connection and not the CarPlay box. If I click the CarPlay box in the list then it connects to that.

    2) If I make a call, the CarPlay interface reverts over to the OEM radio. Does everyone else’s do this also? Or is this some sort of setting somewhere.

    3) Over the last few days I’ve noticed that it won’t boot into the unit for some reason, instead it just stays on the AUX screen of the OEM interface.

upload_2024-12-15_12-6-15.jpg Trying to install my CST module now. However, on the head unit front bracket, this lip will seriously pinch the ribbon cables. Does it need to be removed, or do the cables take the punishment?

Got ahold of CST support. No need to remove lip. Was a bear to hook up one ribbon, cause on the Toyota side, the locking bar for the small ribbon came off. A few patient minutes and it finally clicked back in.
Left the XM module out. I never use it.
Buttoned it all up and tested - Everything works great!!

    Thank you CarSyncTech and Tacomaworld.
