rear locker

so I'm wanting to throw a locker but I'm having a hard time finding one and im not sure one work the best. any suggestions?

 

Can you provide a few more details?

What is your budget?
What are your driving habits... highway, city, unpaved roads?
What do you plan on doing with your truck?... Dedicated rig, hard core crawler, trail rides, weeked warrior, daily driver?
Do you have any traction aides now? LSD or an open differential?


These questions will point you towards any number of options from mechanical, selectable, to having your spider gears welded Free bump for smarter people than me.

 

I would first find out what is available then do a search here or some of the other forums for comments relating to each one, after that its really up to you.

 

01tacoprerunner has the powertrax no-slip locker from richmond gear. Those units costs around $450. I'm saving for one and looking for cheaper alternatives to a locking differential in the meantime.

 

I'd like to stay below 500. drive city and highway. main use would be daily driver but also trail ride/ weekend warrior. and i have a open diff as far as i know. I was thinking about getting the toyota e-locker but want opinions on other ones first

 

At that price point I think all selectable locker options are out. A automatic mechanical locker would probably be your best bet. Look into the option listed by danglingfury. Lots of info on this site about them. Make sure you understand the pros and cons of driving on the street with an auto locker. Good luck!
