Yes, actually any of the colors that do not have metallic flake are all single stage.

Exactly. They’ll tell you literally anything to get your signature on the papers and then get you out the door. Once you drive off the lot, they’re like “That _______ issue happened under your ownership, not while we had the truck. Fukc you, pay me.”

I’d maybe pass on buying a white Tacoma until they get more reps in at the paint shop. My current is the best paint job I’ve seen come out of Baja yet, so it seems they’re inconsistent at best.

Surely Toyota can appreciate that if you want to charge $50-65k for small trucks, your customers will be less tolerant of vintage ‘80’s Detroit paint jobs. Like going to Ruth’s Chris and getting plastic cutlery. Jeesh.

Would be interesting if paint issues are happening at both factories or just one...Maybe Baja knows how to do it but Guanajuato doesn't?

I've told myself that on many occasions that I'm going to drive my Gen-2 Tacoma until I roll the wheels off it. That was until I got a good look at the Gen-4. I would have still waited to see what drivetrain innovations and packages they offered for the Tacoma over the next couple of years. My point is I WAS seriously considering taking an up front and personal look at the Gen-4 for the purpose of buying one.

I'll spend the rest of my born days repairing vehicles I own before I buy another vehicle from a manufacturer that accepts that kind of crap from their manufacturing facilities. I don't care where in the world a product is built; Toyota's name and brand used to be sacred. I want to find out if it still is.

It's still a Toyota so I'm going to go out on a limb and say the condition of the product they sold you is an embarrassment to their Corporation that they don't need, don't want, and WILL do something about.

As the development and implementation mother of Just-In-Time and 6-Sigma statistical Quality Control in manufacturing facilities across the world
, my logic tells me they MUST address your issues quickly and fairly.

The problem is I could be wrong.

While I don’t have the exact number of registered and active users, I can say with relative accuracy that the Discussions section alone of TacomeWorld.com often has over 62,000 discussions and a total of over 577,000 messages. TacomaWorld is a community. The communities purpose is stated as actively engaging in sharing knowledge, troubleshooting, and celebrating their love for and issues with Takoma's. That's a pimple on a gnat's behind of the truck market but it is a bargaining point. PLEASE keep this issue and its process resolution status front and center, to the best of your ability, on this forum until it is resolved!

You've got the knowledge and experience but I still would rather be lucky than GOOD. Best of LUCK!

Which plant was yours built? My 24 off road was built at the Baja facility and the paint is perfect to my eye. I'm sure because I clay barred it before ceramic coating it.

I'd keep the 2nd gen, more reliable across the board

Update: Toyota called this morning 8 am...
Took more information down, "recorded line"....
I stated my case, request, rational reasoning, etc...
    Now we hold our breath.........:annoyed:
Im not knocking the brand what so ever, still love the truck & my dealer has been great so far, class act!
Just clearly stating, bring your glasses at time of purchase look it over with a fine tooth comb in proper lighting...

Trying to keep this post over-all positive & dont need any manufacturer bashing...
This thread may just go away.....
Mistakes happen & some that shouldnt have, lets hope they do the right thing to my standards.

Buy this man a beer, for he has squarely hit the nail on the head. QC, Toyota, and Mexico shouldn't be used in the same sentence, unless the words "is dog5hit in the"' is used after QC and "plant in" is used after Mexico.

Excellent point. Buyers need to start really nitpicking when buying the truck. Share these photos with the dealership to show why.

This is probably a worst case. Something went horribly wrong at the factory, but it just shows they have some serious QC issues. If I was in charge at this factory, heads would be rolling.

You have every right for a new truck and Toyota needs to make it right. If this went wrong, what else did?

Just because it was made in Mexico doesn't mean it has to be bad,the new 2 series BMW are made there and there paint looks really good .
