All the FS roads I'll be riding are ones I have ridden or raced on mountain bikes for the past 40 years, so I'm pretty familiar with all the dips and turns. They are really consistent in North GA and SE TN. Limestone rocks over red clay.

The only real bad road rash I ever got was on the street coming back from the pool... front tire washed out in a gravelly corner so I made some tasty street pizza. Wearing flip-flops, surf trunks, no shirt... bloody streak from my piggy toe to my pinky finger. Embedded dirt and rocks all the way up my leg, knee, hip, ribcage, underarm, bicep, elbow, forearm. At least it was only on one side so I didn't stick to the sheets. ATGATT.

Yep, that's my neighborhood. I live in Rock Spring, so my FS entrance is CCC Camp road in Cohutta.

Yeah, Cohutta is the largest wilderness area east of the Mississippi. There's no infrastructure up there for Google to ping.

Loooong trip. And I got some rough guts going on just as we got there. Had my buddy do the teast ride while I gave birth to my colon.

I did take it down around the cul-de-sac to get it on the trailer. The balance is stunning.

I'm not home. Maybe in an hour, but even then there won't be sun. Overcast rain, possibly snow for the next few days.

Oh no it wasn’t a gravel road it was on the road. I was 18 at the time. I was on my 1985 ninja 600. I have had it one year and about 10,000 miles. A friend and I were out riding on a nice summer day. Back in the day there was no helmet law and I was too cool to wear one. I was wearing shorts , tank top and tennis shoes. I was fucking around and hitting the front brake making the tire chirp. Well I was going through an intersection at about 45 mph and hit the front brake trying to be cool and it immediately tucked the front tire to the left and down I went. I slid on my left side for about 25-30 feet. My friend hit my sliding bike and went down but he didn’t get hurt at all. I road the bike home 10 miles with out using the clutch because my clutch lever was broke and also my finger. Once home I went inside and my Moms boy friend and my older brother were there. I said I was just in an accident and need to go to the hospital. On the way I went into shock and was shaking from the pain. Then once at the hospital the cleaning of the road rash started. From that day on I was always ATGATT!!!
Even today when I see a rider in shorts, flip flops and t shirt I get a feeling of anxiety.
Everyone has the freedom to wear what they want so I am not preaching that it’s just something I will never do again. That was 38yrs ago and is still very fresh in my mind.

booooooooo why your weather no fun lol
that just sounds awful lol i normally just wear jeans and a hoodie and a helmet and gloves. i can get those fancy jeans that have stuff in them to protect you but i never have haha. i ride a lot of street but would prefer more dirt tbh... so i havent splurged loads on road gear since id rather be offroad more then on road personally. even thou i do love my supermoto setup lol

I agree!! Supermoto would be fun. I do ride the Klx on the street like a supermoto. You would be surprised how much grip the Dunlop 605 tires have.
