I just printed out thier map as a 3x2 poster at cvs and I whip it out and feel like captain jack sparrow. Helps from going down roads that arent really roads anymore

The brochure you get at check in has a decent sized one.

Yes...We've ventured down some no-go roads.... :spy: and camped down a couple too.

This one was fun, coming in hot to THIS

    upload_2024-5-10_11-20-36.jpg

Not as hot as the other side though. See how there's a hill crest? You can see people who were coming in how from that direction, crested the hill, and LOCKED UP to stop in time.

Or going down a "road" that looks like this, and then you come across EITHER a bridge that hasn't been touched in the past 20 years from an old logging op, OR a wide open clearing that's an awesome campsite....

This is the actual size of the entire PDF map that NWM has on their website. I georeferenced the locations on it to add it to Gaia.

When you zoom in you can see tracks and way points right on the NMW official map, and once you're there you can see your actual current location on the map. Eliminates having to import their data into Gaia manually or cross referencing the two.
Use these instructions as your guide here: https://help.gaiagps.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003639068-Adding-a-TMS-Map-Source

The URL you need to paste as a TMS map source is: https://mapwarper.net/maps/tile/75296/{z}/{x}/{y}.png

Lives in my seat pocket even though I'm 8 hours from the Maine border at best. Always wishful thinking I guess.

I wish I had more room to store others, I’d buy one for every state, but then where do I put my camping gear?

Easy. You leave the wife home. Whole front seat is open now.

You folks are brilliant, between leaving the wife home and putting more shit on the roof, I have tons of room.

Easier to just remove the seat and then there's not even an option!

If anyone is headed up the North Branch Access road has a bridge out that they do not look like they are going to fix. They put jersey barriers in front of it.

    Thanks for the heads up!

Looks like Gaia already has it blasted, and it's right at a campsite - Big Bog.
According to Gaia I've never driven there/been by it. But that doesn't mean that's accurate. I just don't remember.

Welp, couldve avoided hitting it twice if I looked at the map closer. We ran into it going east going in and again going west going out. There was also a bunch of morons out there going 25 on golden and wouldnt let you pass. I passed anyways

    @Merling Yeah that too.

Also, I would say, even the long weekend is worth the trip. I won't be up there until Saturday or maybe Sunday, TBD, but then there through the next Sunday. Not sure what the plans to go through the gates and into the woods are for that first weekend up to the trains. Have you even been into the NMW proper?

We're kipping up outside of the woods proper this year so that it's easier to get to, and free, and flexible for everyone to come and go as they please.
