It doesn’t take much money to buy gear that offers a lot more protection than jeans and a hoody. Overpants are a lot better than moto jeans in my opinion unless you always want to wear the same pants every time you ride. They cost about the same as well but can be out over anything. Ride somewhere, take off your pants and boots and be walking around in shorts and flip flops comfortably.

Agreed. the D605 is fairly sticky for a knobby on the street.

Damn man that must have been terrible, thanks for sharing your story. I always wear full gear too. I broke a few bones when I was hit however had no road rash which I was very thankful for.

I can relate on the anxiety piece, there is a level of PTSD that stays with you after an experience like that. I try not to be preachy either but you can relate to fellow motorcyclists and don't want to see them hurt - so it's really coming from a place of care/compassion.

    I know I've posted this before......but....

Age 21(2000), riding a YZ125 on fresh asphalt at the lake. Swimsuit only. No shoes, shirt, helmet, etc.....and drunk.

Highsided(hit head, knocked out) and then slid down the road

Only thing I remember is right when I went in the air, I grabbed my head. Woke up and had 3 people pass me as I was trying to roll start the bike to get back to the lake house.

I had never ridden a bike before that without at least a helmet. Learned quick that it wasn't for me even if legal in some states.

meh my problem is i just dont like the gear... ive worn the padded jeans things and i really like those and need to get a few of them. but the bulky things that go over? ya no im just not a fan tbh... i love dirt gear like i used in co yes it has zero protection if i go down but its so easy to move in offroad which i love.
    only valid answer here lmao

That must have hurt man glad things didn't end worse you!

If only the deities would prevent suffering in the first place...then I'd get behind a religion. My personal thanks goes to all the first responders and medical professionals out there taking care of others. I'm still so humbled by all the help I received

I have no one to blame but myself. I was 21 and stoopid:rofl:. After working in an ER since 2006........I have seen the best/worst scenarios. Admittedly, I don't always wear gear(jacket/pants/boots)......but I don't ride like a moron on the road anymore. It's another reason I love the little baby bikes so much. Their power will never be an issue I have to worry with. Just one less thing on the plate.
