    1) It has to be strait but you don't need to replace it. (Just rotate it on the far back hanger as stated in my install above)

    2) No, just slide the stock pipe into the muffler, but do not go in further then the instructions say (I can't remember how much)

    3) Yes I kept the pipe after the muffler to the tip. No pipe adapter needed

    4) Local Muffler shops (I would just cut the existing metal bars welded on the stock muffler and extend those by welding metal bars on the cut hangers so they reach the 2525.)

Ya. I really need to just get under there and look at it. Shouldn't be too difficult. Basically make the pipe run in and out of the muffler. Salvage as much of the existing pipe as possible. Don't weld the hangers to the muffler.

Will the pipe on my 08 match the muffler? I have heard some trucks (1st gens maybe) are 2.25" and 2nd are 2.5"?

So you are saying cut it after it bends up to get more clearance? Then how would you match the offset (which is lower)?

Might just cut it right before it bends up, run the pipe straight into the muffler and straight out to hit the existing tail end of the pipe.

In this picture you have you can see the hanger closest to the tip. Leave that and use it as the pivot point to turn the pipe so the tip goes lower and the pipe where the outlet of the muffler connects to raises to match where the same level of the inlet of the stock muffler. I'll see if I can take a picture tonight

Sounds good. So is the existing pipe the same size as the pipe on the muffler (2.5")?

Also, you said you have 2525.. What do you think about the noise level? A little too loud? Raspy? Have you heard the XL in person?

I don't want to buy the XL and it not be loud at all. The comment on the AERO website it what started this: "while maintaining a tone that is similar to stock sound levels"

I'll check them out. Just hard to really judge the noise from a video.

Well, how bad does rasp bother you? And are you wanting to be the loudest thing on the street?

Never done any exhaust work so I really dont know about rasp. I don't necessarily need the loudest thing on the street, but if I am going to pay $150 for some noise, I want hear some noise. I don't want it to sound like a race car either. ha. I want a deep sound.

Ummm last time I checked a muffler is an exhaust. It's not a cat-back exhaust or full-exhaust I think is what you're trying to say, but an exhaust none the less.

As far as the install, why are you making it difficult just take the thing to any muffler shop and have them put it on it shouldn't be more than $50-$100 MAX.

The stock pipe is 2.25" but you can just slide it into the 2525 inlet and outlet and weld it on. I love the sound of the 2525. I don't know what anyone is talking about when they say rasp. The 2525 sounds nothing like a ricer. It has a nice deep growl to it. You can always buy a separate resonator if you don't like the sound and weld it on after.

    Thanks for the technical analysis.

I prefer to do things myself for a few reasons. I learn how to do it. I learn how different components work. I save money. I know the quality of work that is happening to my truck.
