County finally came and put the asphalt down. They didn’t go up the driveway as much as I was hoping for but I can’t complain, they did such a great job on replacing the culvert.

Thinking about doing recycled asphalt for the rest. I can’t remember who it was who just had it done but would love an update on how it’s holding up.

That was me. So far so good, could be a little thicker and when we get some extra money it will be. For the money, I’m happy with it

Maybe not for the product itself, but from the start of excavating to a finished product is going to cost a fortune. It looks like you're going down 10 to 12 in, that's not going to be cheap. Then you have to do something with all that material you take out, either haul it off or grade it out and grass it...

@KRAMERICA here's a picture of the guard rails in the road bed.
IMG_20240511_142520963_HDR.jpg each section is 13' long.

Could you have angled it the other way, away from the house? Or is that someone else’s property it would be going on?

Unfortunately not that's the neighbors property. But it goes straight into the ditch and down the 24" covert and down to the creek probably 200' more or less.
The road is right on the property line.

Thats fancy. We did a big retaining wall out of those. Call them Ecology Blocks in our area. They were cheap...like $15 bucks each. But like you mentioned if you dont have a way to haul and unload/move them it adds up fast. We were lucky our neighbor was building a house and also happened to own heavy equipment. So ended up getting to use a way oversized excavator to do all the moving.

I like that idea. I dont think Ive ever seen it on a Forest Service road though. But could be a West coast vs East coast thing too. All ive ever seen on the west coast is regular culverts.

those big concrete blocks are $25 each in my area. but they dont have the fancy ones. just plain. They make them from all left over concrete around here.

    thats a nice long driveway!

you guys have been hearing about this porch project of mine for a while now... finally got a little progress that shows. been slaving away at it for a month, but nothing really showy. now there is a little visual to it.

poured the pad, set the steps, mounted my channels for the skirting & my wife could finally see what i was visualizing. Shes happy with it.

NO the landscape stones arent gonna stay there like that. she just wanted to see if that was gonna meet her "demands" on the flower bed size.
Look close in the window & you can see a 135lb Goldie. progress.jpg
