After cleaning terminals and applying dielectric grease and reconnecting the battery it will not start the first attempt. The second attempt does start. This happens every time. 60k. Key start. Is this normal? If so is there any way to avoid this issue?

Push button or keyed switch, battery cables clean and tight?

I've never noticed mine doing that but I wasn't thinking about it. It's been mentioned here many times that the truck will shut off on it's own first start after disconnecting the battery.

Is it cranking but not starting?

Sometimes the throttle body needs to relearn after a battery disconnect. The throttle blade can be closed too much and it won't flow enough air to start and idle. After a couple tries it opens a bit more and let's the engine run. Subarus do this a lot. Cleaning can help if it's dirty.

This, alot of vehicles won't start/idle correctly immediately after a battery disconnect especially if the throttle body is dirty.
This is because alot of learned values such as idle airflow compensation are reset and the PCM must relearn them which takes time.

Take it for a drive. If it's idling OK and not stalling at stoplights you're fine

It shouldn't be looked at like it's a "problem". Modern cars depend on learned values and memory a lot more than they used to. It's not like disconnecting a battery is bad or hurting anything, the pcm just needs a bit longer to get back to "normal mode" .. like a couple cranking attempts..

    Its fine don't overthink it

Put some dielectric grease on the key next time you insert it. It might have some corrosion in the switch.

Did changed my battery few days ago and what i did is use a 9v battery connection to avoid memory lost, clean both terminals. Truck starts and radio presets is good.

I'd avoid any sort of grease on the key. When it does dry you're left with a gummy mess. Although the issue doesn't sound like the key itself, graphite powder works well in keyed applications if things are sticking.

If that’s the case you can get it in a can and spray it. We use that stuff like water on everything here at work .

minor, TRD skid plate, front recovery points, Regken mud flaps, rear diff breather, AC drain pipe extended. Upgraded sound with active sub woofer, tonneau cover, CB radio.
Interesting, totally makes sense. Can you please provide more info about? Connection diagram, sequence of operation, and (pls, forgive me my dumbness, why 9v)?
    Thank you in advance!

this won't help anything. the key mechanism is separate from the electrical switches it operates. it's how the kia's were getting stolen so easily.
