My brother is a good stepfather. :)

Although, he technically adopted the kid, so I'm not sure if that changes the terminology.

The terminology doesn't matter. Being there for someone is all that matters.

Went out riding this afternoon at High Cliff State Park. I've got a looooong way to go before I'm in any kind of shape.

At least my knees feel better every ride.

BTW, there was a better rock about 10 yards away that I missed, would've been a much better bro pose.

Yes, yes it is. And it keeps getting harder to not attain that shape! Besides the bike, I'm also trying push aways...push my fat ass away from the table sooner!

    I resemble that remark!
Although I am down 14lbs since my hospital visit, I must be doing something right.

    Only 40 more to go!

I’d be happy if I make 20 more

Eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full. Despite what your mother may have told you, you do not need to eat everything on your plate.

I'm a fan of B-Complex vitamins. Common misconception is B vitamins give you energy. B vitamins help convert food into energy...take with a meal.
Which leads me to my next thing. 3 meals a day are not required.
I follow Japanese investor Yoshiro Nakamatsu's idea and only eat one meal/day.
It isn't the amount you eat it's what you eat.
Red meat and Old Fashioned's won't help. :D

My problem is that I don't feel full until I've eaten too much. Slowing down would help.

    Red meat is fine.

Old fashioneds definitely don't help, though.

    Stomachs will shrink back up.
Need the self discipline (that's the hard part) for smaller portions.

Yeah, I definitely need to change some habits. Knowing that portion control isn't my strong suit, I've been trying to focus more on eating better things.

All about calories. Disclaimer, I'm a meathead, but thankfully can read.

Count up your calories - which are mainly comprised of proteins, carbs, and fats - and figure out how much you consume daily to maintain weight (also known as BMR). Average it out over a week. Goal, especially for men, is to take in about 1.5 grams per kilogram of bodyweight in protein daily (or, at least ideal bodyweight). For me, that's about 200g of protein daily. Keep fats under 100g daily and fill the rest with carbs.

Let's say it comes to 2,500 calories. To go into a caloric deficit and lose weight, reduce that by 500 to drop 1.0-1.5 lbs/week. To go into a caloric surplus and gain weight, add 500 calories. Do this for 8-12 weeks at a crack, walk daily, and lift heavy things 3x per week. You have to track/weigh food portions out initially, before you can eyeball it.

    Done.

    Lol!

Also, most don't think about liquid calories. Cut out soda/sugary drinks. It's amazing when you read the ingredient and nutrition labels on something you think is healthy, like orange juice.

I try to use awareness of what's in my food.
For example. Meat and dairy proteins require separate processes to digest and won't happen simultaneously.
A glass of milk with your dinner might actually be counteracting your other proteins.
Cooking food cooks a lot of nutrients right out.
Like your protein calculations I go by our bodies can really only absorb 15g/day and only like 5g/time.
I don't understand these people drinking 30+g protein shakes? After 15g it isn't doing anything.

All that said and last night was
T-bones on the grill. A huge baked potato topped with buttery cheesey broccoli and sour cream.
Sautéed Onions, mushrooms and a big piece of a peanut butter heath pie!

It's taken me over a decade to get used to not eating steak & potatoes and to eat only until satiated. I'm still working on the whole eating just enough to stay starved and lose weight. It's a process. o_O
