It's less Tacoma and more mod
It's easier to learn in a meaningful way with a machine you can dial in, that way you aren't learning to satisfy a shitty machine rather than just learning the skill

Even for just the triangular gussets, you can tell you have a steady hand

You owe it to yourself to get into welding, especially if you enjoyed it

I just got into it a few years ago, and whenever I needed some constructive criticism I got a lot of help from the crew here

The welder that @Kwikvette mentioned seems like a solid deal. Unless you can find a good deal on a bit bigger 180+ Lincoln/Miller on marketplace, that seems like an awesome setup to start with.

I think I know the answer already, but should I also skip past the Yeswelder 205?
I wasn't going to look at Amazon cheapo welders but they pop up in a bunch of videos and everyone always ends up very impressed with how well they do.
Project Farm had some good videos with it, and the Yeswelder ended up being his recommendation

Used Miller and Lincoln welders are a great value

They just don't quit and the consumables for their torches are found pretty much everywhere locally; unfortunately SOME sellers either have a half-beat-to-shit barely working welder for sale, or are selling theirs for nearly MSRP

    The good deals go quick!

Agreed. Scored my Lincoln 180 with cart, gloves, helmet, bottle, some other consumables and magnets etc. for $400 back in like 2017. Guy used it once and was selling everything off due to divorce...

Next machine will probably be a Millermatic 211 though.

That Primeweld does look like a pretty good deal.
I'll have to watch around FB some more, all the ones I see pop up are the like Lincoln 100 Weldpak, which just seem too small and they still want $400 for them.

Not a welder, but just a video of running my CUT60 -

    https://youtu.be/SevQRdHlxRc?si=nyCxSmW3LR_DNeO0

I've come to really like the PW brand, especially since customer support is there even on the weekends on FB to help when the need arises

I beat the hell out of my hand torch over the course of 2.5 years and it wasn't until recently I had a pin stuck as part of the "ready to fire circuit"

    428700419_908779361256213_7511186194756526849_n.jpg

I simply asked on the group about bypassing it, and if I should do it at the retaining cup or inside the torch head.

Gene replied to my thread (on a weekend mind you) and said he's sending one out overnight on Monday

Getting a 4x8 sheet of steel, have a neat little idea for an aquarium sign so I'll have plenty left over

    @time623

If you really want to invest in the idea of welding, I'd be happy to help offer some test coupons for practicing your welding

It's only like $10 to ship flat rate, so I can cut scrap that I always have left over and will never use for $5 on top of shipping

Thank you, yeah I would really appreciate that!

I am really liking that Primeweld 180, can't find a bad word about it.

Probably going to watch FB for this week before pulling the trigger in case I get lucky with a full hood/cart etc setup

A part of me said "switch your nozzle, you're gonna lose details with that 1.1mm kerf" and the other part of me said "just fucking send it"

    20240513_151409.jpg

    I fucking sent it

    20240513_153932.jpg

Not bad though really, especially for the amount of detail

    It's 22" x 13" so it's pretty small

This will go on the wall above our small aquarium

I like a good thunderstorm, we usually only get one or two. Maybe if some intense weather cells are clashing we might get some morning mini storms for a week.
