Hey fellas, I have a rusted out frame on my 2006 access cab. I found a 2013 access cab frame to replace it with and want to confirm it’s the same before I buy it. To be clear, I know they are different but I’m only replacing from the front cab mounts back so I need to know if I can use the back of the 2013 frame to replace my 2006. Thanks in advance!!

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
A 2g access cab frame is a 2g access cab frame. Don't cut/weld, in many places you can't pass a vehicle inspection if the frame has been welded.

It should work. I don't know if the trans mount was different b/t auto/manual(so you may have to use your trans mount somehow). I'd think that'd be the only problem.

Heck why not use the whole thing?

Take it from a guy who is currently doing some serious work....it might be easier if you can keep your project to bolt on and bolt off.

That’s a lot more work and time. My brother is a pro fitter/welder so he can make short work of the back end. Front end of my current frame isn’t too bad. A couple of patches and reinforcements have already been done. And it Turns out the frame I found was from a 2 wheel drive 4 cylinder which is very different in the front than a 4x4 V6. Same in the back though.

As long as the donor frame was from another 2nd gen with the same engine and transmission (auto or manual) you'll be fine. Now if you got a prerunner frame all you'll have to do is swap out the transmission crossmember which is held by 4 bolts

You must take pride in your ride to put this much effort into replacing the back half of your Tacoma. Do it right and thank your brother for his talent!

Turns out the donor frame is a 2 wheel drive 4 cylinder which is very different in the front but seems identical in the back. I only need the back. Still gonna take some measurements and be sure before I buy it. Thanks for your input!

It’s a great truck! And I do take pride in it. Frame, a big downfall but worth fixing. And my bro is really good. He says it’ll be the strongest Taco that ever existed!
