Max tire size question, but WIDTH, not diameter

I know there's a million "how big can I go with my tires?" posts, but seems like everybody is looking for height, not width. My 4x4 time is 99% on the beach, so width for float on the sand is my priority. Also not worried about rub at max compression as long as I can park without rubbing.

I have a '21 TSS SR5 with 2" level front and blocks in the back, stock rims. How wide could I go without major rubbing, cutting, bodymount chop, etc... Don't mind pulling the airdam, flaps, massaging the wheelwell liner or other easy mods. Also happy to use some mild spacers if that helps.

Anyone have any recommendations for this application? Thanks in advance!

I have 305- 33s, other 3rd gens run 305- 33s, which are 12+" wide. 12" wide tires only come in upper-32"D on up.

If you figure out how to run a clean, full lock turn reverse on 12+" wide without a cab mount chop, and full lock turn forward stuff without a pinch weld pound, please let people know how you did it.

You need wheels, running 285 or wider on the stock SR5 rims results in the curl/curve of the tire, making garbage contact patch and poor tire wear.

275 doesnt exist in 16" flavor so you're stuck. Run 285 and deal with issues, or stick to 265/75R16 and deflate like crazy.

Ultimately you need 17" rims 8" or wider.

Are you thinking 265 is too wide for a stock 7” wheel? Just curious because of the deflate like crazy comment. I definitely agree about no 285s.

No, just to get the most out of 265

Same situation here where the majority of my 4x4 "need" has been at the beach. Even with some gnarly loose sand I've found 4HI with street tire pressures have been manageable with the factory tires.

Not saying wider and better tires won't help, but I haven't even needed to air down, drop it to 4LO or use the locker. Stuff was loose enough where turning too sharp would start digging in the front tires; just back up and use a wider line.

Not taking away the OP's desire for wider tires, just sharing my experiences on loose sand with the factory set up.
