I shouldn’t have quoted you. It wasn’t targeted at you, but the whole price discussion in general.

I dislike the current economic climate and prices like everyone else.

I would like a Pro, but I’m not infatuated with the Pro colors, or price.

Like I said, front locker, dssv shocks, larger tires, more off road focused tires, wider stance, more attractive pricing on options vs Toyota, more torque.

Front locker vs SDM = draw
DSSV shocks vs rear coils, at least one tester with simultaneous testing called it a draw.
Bigger more aggressive tires = win for ZR2
More torque, should be a win for ZR2 but testing proved otherwise?
    Wider stance. Is ZR2 wider?
Better option pricing = win for ZR2 if you want leather/ventilated seats.
Still think these two are direct competitors and priced almost dead even.

Sounds like Ranger Raptors are starting to rattle on the way home from the dealer.

Fair enough. I will add that the new TRD ORs are configured like the early TRD Pros which were directly compared to the ZR2s.
In 2019 both the Pro and the ZR2 sold for about 43K.

One can debate the merits of a front locker, but the ZR2 always had a front locker while the Pro didn't (and still doesn't). I know some will say a front locker isn't needed, that it's a waste, it just adds unnecessary complexity to the front diff, etc. However, (and there's always a 'however' in life) if the shoes were on the other foot, i.e. the Pro had a front locker and the ZR2 did not, Tacoma fanboys would be ripping the ZR2 for not having one and praising Toyota for giving the Pro a front locker.
Truck guys are some of the most tribal vehicle owners there are on the planet.

When I ordered a Tremor in winter of 2021 it was scheduled in 2 months, then once it was produced it never updated again. June I get a picture of the truck at the dealership, so apparently it just got missed and showed up out of the blue.

Front locker would only be used by 1 % of pro owners. The rest are not even taking it off road . Just add one yourself

I like this thinking b/c it illustrates a top driver of Tacoma sales through 2023. But here’s where I may need help…

Previously, the ZR2 & Pro were priced on top of each other, and per above, the Taco only gave back 14% versus 33% depreciation on the ZedR2.

However, if today the Pro is already priced well over 30% above a new Zed, then am I now just financing my anticipated return on eventual trade-in, or are the Iso seats just so comfy that they’re worth an extra 300 bucks per month?

Certainly feels like Toyota is cashing in on what should be our resale values.

For this to be a true comparison you need to know the average transaction price for each. While MSRP was similar I'd bet there were larger discounts on the ZR2s and the average transaction price was much lower. Quick google search shows Chevy had a $4500 rebate on the ZR2 in 19. With 0 negotiating on either that makes up most of the difference in value.

Stop comparing ZR2 to Pro. Top of the line vs top of the line is pro vs bison. Pro is not 30% over the Bison.

That rebate came out in August, so a lot of sales occurred before that. Will agree that ZR2s sold for less than msrp but not 7k less.
