I had you pinned more as a Chromo Waggy 44 type of gal

Most of the driver drop waggy axles seem to be long gone

I have access to a 78/79 full width Ford Dana 44 and most of the parts to convert it to 6 lug... keep going back and forth on that. it would be just right for running leaf springs in the front but no off the shelf chromoly shafts that I'm aware of.

I think the 78/79 44 is like 1.5" wider on the long side than the 77 and down but my memory has been wrong before

 

I'm just in ADHD decision fatigue mode

older axle not as strong, should spend money for something newer, should save money on old axle that's still way better than IFS, spend money buy once cry once, should save as much money as possible blah blah blah

 

in reality I'm probably fine on the stock shaft 3/4 ton 44 as long as I don't go above 37s or try to do buggy shit

 

In my mind, I wont break a built 44. Hopefully lol. So thats why i say screw a 60. Plus the width, weight, and ground clearance of tons with only 37s...

yeah, there's just handfuls of trade offs which suck when I'm trying to min/max everything lol

my other thought is to run a JK 44 front, the stock shafts are already beefier but the housing is weaker

I've been trying to figure out how to fall up. Busted my ass, didn't happen. Do the bare minimum, still not happening but seeing as my annual increased more with less effort, I must be in the right track?

 

right, which goes back to cheap 44.... I already have GM spindles/hubs/brakes with waggy 6 lug rotors sitting on the shop floor

Would probably buy Reid knuckles, steering, then just need to regear it. could slap it together reasonably cheap and probably spend the same as I'd do on a JK axle alone lol
