Except for the fasteners, Spacers put a shit load more strain on the lug studs

I've seen install videos of guys rubbing grease all over the hub so the spacer would come back off easier.
They don't come off easy but I prefer seized on vs. putting lube between the spacer and hub.

They put more load on the bearings and spindles than what you'd have without them. That in itself may cause a failure more likely to happen than not. The hubs and bearings are designed with the factory wheels used in the equation. Going beyond what's available from the factory will reduce life expectancy. Wheels and tires fall off for many reasons, no need to add to the list. Some people play stupid games and win stupid prizes but man do they look cool doing it!

    I understand that.
What I don't understand is how some believe it adds a "shit load" of stress.
That stress factor is an over exaggerated excuse some use so their spouse will let them buy new wheels.

I stopped using loctite with my .75 Bora spacers. It was gumming up the threads and I had to chip rock hard threadlocker off the studs and nuts everytime I pulled them off to do brake work or whatever..

Torque them to 85 and forget about it. If the spacers come loose your wheel was going to come loose anyway..

    Apparently not.
A shit load to me means I should've broke something by now.

I have no idea and don't care how much extra load spacers place on the assembly. I do know things are engineered to a infinite degree to keep costs down. Knowing this prevents me from adding wheel spacers or wheels that accomplish the same thing. Seems pointless to me anyway, I don't see the benefit to having wheels sticking out past the fenders. To each their own and I defend the right to do whatever makes you happy. It's just not for me. Oh, and my wife couldn't care less what I spend money on. I do.

With the +25 stock 16" wheels, a 1.25" spacer barely brings it to -7mm. Like -6.xx.
With the 265's the sidewall just pokes out. Tread path is still within the well.

Its like a shit ton, only it applies to dumb asses that can't understand leverage as it pertains to spacers and tires.

    Pros:

    1) 1% of the population thinks they look cool
    2) in some cases they can help with tire clearance
    3) for long travel setups, they can help align the front and rear wheels
    4) cheap

    Cons:

    1) 99% of population think they look stupid
    2) in some contexts they exceed the engineering design limits of your front suspension
    3) in some contexts they can hurt tire clearance
    4) there are better solutions
