Actually, I kinda regret buying one. I've used the 4x4 function a few times, but never really needed it. Honestly, on the 09s and newer, the TRAC and auto-LSD would have been enough for me. I got a new reg. cab 4x4 in 2010. Looking back, I wish I would have tried to look for a 09 AC prerunner. I just didn't realize how well the TRAC actually worked in the snow, as I was used to driving older vehicles.

I do a bit of light off-roading (all trails) and drive it around in some snowy conditions. If thats the hardest driving you do, just get an 09+ prerunner and save some $ for mods. :crapstorm::crapstorm::crapstorm:

This right here proves everything that I've said about you... one day you'll hit that ground and instantly regret it. There must be something wrong with you if you get super arrogant with safety equipment on.

My wife had to remind me of the above....

But do I wish I had the 4x4? Of course I would use it maybe 1-2 times a year. I would most likely "find" opportunities...i mean excuses to use it... A little of that male ego thing also plays a part in my wanting...

Kingfrog...it's not if, it's when. It's not you either its someone else hitting you. Go find a helmet-less sk8, MTB, whatever head trauma and read about it and the recovery if your lucky to survive and walk. Riding w/o a helmet is stupid.

The "its not if but when" is complete and total BS. If that were a fact I would not ride motorcycle at all. The facts don't bear that out. and there are a lot of "stupid" people in states without helmet laws riding safely year after year after year.

... Been riding since I was 19 never been down and I ride more than I drive having lived in California and Nevada for 30 years, had a get off. Don't expect to. I would not ride if I had to dress like a fighter pilot in an armored cocoon before getting on any bike. completely takes the joy away for me. Id rather die than have a wrecked body and living brain. My choice. Thankfully there are places to live where we still have that choice.

Here is my rational like it or not......
There are 5,000,000+ licensed riders in the US... 5000 die every year. Sad. HOWEVER over 2/3rds of them were WEARING HELMETS. I will take those odds all day long. now 100K have injurious get offs. MOst wearing helmets but Nearly 1/2 of them are drunk, many speeding, losing control in a corner, and only 13% of ALL are the result of vehicle bike collisions and a few points for animal hits. I don't speed, don't ride drunk, and don;t lie in an area where I have to worry about urban traffic where MOST bike vehicle collisions happen. Animal hits are too low to be concerned about. A major percentage of riders go down because they screwed up taking curves too fast testing their bikes and their own limits and or are drunk, inexperienced on and on..... I don't know my limits nor any bike I have owned and intend to keep it that way. I don't ride for sport. Basic transportation and I prefer it over a car.

Most impacts are at speeds less than 30 MPH ( I have been that fast as a kid on bicycles and although some states have nanny laws for bicycle riders now they certainly are not DOT approved by those standards) Thankfully SC doesn't play nanny state with bicycle riders here either.

That said I have helmets because I ride in states where they are mandatory. But here in SC 90% or more riders do not wear helmets and for years there were 300K drunk and partying bikers in two rallys and the deaths could be counted on one hand.

Most riders go through their ENTIRE lives without an injurious get off. 4,900,000 per year do NOT even go down in a documented incident.....that 4 MILLION NINE HUNDRED THOUSAND riders ................a group I am proud to have been a member of for the past 4 decades.

I have researched the facts and made my choice...Thankfully i still have one......Yeah I'll take those odds all day long....and have.

Sorry to the OP for the sidetrack...........

No I not sorry I don;t have a 4WD . Made that choice as well...Don't need it here.

Did I say that? Really? "Super arrogant" Hmmm Where does the false sense of security with the safety gear, turn into super arrogance?

    Sorry Nostradamus.
You have been wrong for too many years now to have credibility.

Reading this thread it reminds me of my past life and the V6 vs GT vs Cobra world. For me, buying something fast was easy. So I took the sixer and made it fast :p

I bought my truck and the dealer told me it was 4x4. Or he never corrected me when i asked. My bad, i should have done my research. I hadnt gone to buy that truck specifically, but wanted it after driving it and seeing the color in person. I wish it was 4x4- but at the same time, I'm in AZ- my biggest challenge is dirt and rocks. No snow, no ice, no problems.

Obviously, you just proved that you can't fix stupid

I bet you don't wear a seat belt either or utilize a safety on a gun...

Your chance of survival is much higher with a helmet on... just because "2/3 of riders die with helmets on" does not hold any water because the majority of states impose helmet laws, SO ALMOST EVERYONE HAS A HELMET ON. How many riders died during crashes without helmets that a helmet would have saved them... I'd be willing to bet that the odds of people dying with helmets on is less then with helmets off. How many times has a helmet SAVED someone?

Your rationale is flawed in all cases... I suppose since 4wd makes people drive like idiots and proper riding gear makes people ride like idiots then I guess guns make people shoot other people too

    To each his own... dumbass
