just a couple of things tbh
i like the 650 since its middle grounds of something not crazy but enough power to have fun with and keep around and easily do two up on ya know? i love naked bikes since they are similar to well a super moto with more power. it is something i do want but @FreshOldTaco makes a good point as well... maybe im just getting old? shit.... but ive never cared for the harley cruisers but ive also never taken a look at any of the smaller bikes to see if its something id like for comfort for both of us instead of just me so maybe i should? before i jump in on a bike and they she finds it uncomfortable and doesnt want to go out on rides with me?

(ya ya lmao its not really to tell me no but to hear other ideas and thoughts on the idea)

Yup I get it they're not for everyone, just wanted to throw in the perspective of a sport bike lover that doesn't mind a cruiser too :)

The only way you'll know for sure is riding one and spending time on the bike. I did a Yamaha demo day where I rode both the Bolt and an FZ-09, both of which I ended up buying not long after.

As for the pic you're not missing much, just an old guy and his wife standing next to the bike to give you a visual lol

ya thats true ive always liked naked sport bikes so i do gravitate towards those. now old school cruisers are neat dont get me wrong ive just never ever looked into them since i prefer the naked sport bikes. plus dont wanna appear old on a harley ish style bike lol

ive never actually done any of those rides tbh.. i have a odd thing where i hate riding other peoples bikes in fear of damaging them lol i know kinda silly when its a event ride sponsored by a company and the bikes are write offs but idk its a mindset thing haha

haha so kinda like this one then ya?
    upload_2024-5-15_10-1-43.png
i dont hate the style of it and they do sound neat just unsure if id like the riding style since im so use to my supermoto

Rode dirtbikes for the last 25 yrs. A naked sportbike is about as close as you can get to a dirtbike on the street without it being a superemoto.

I loved my Honda 919 for solo riding and did some longer rides here and there (2-300mi days), 2up was dooable but realistically it wasnt until i got the super tenere that 2up was enjoyable and 400+ mi days became way easier.

I think the real question is.... what are you looking for in a bike (regardless of style) that makes you want something other than the supermoto you have?

Yes that's the bike, mine was a pearl white 2014 base model with a few mods. There used to be 3 models - base, R-Spec, and C-Spec. Mostly the same but I'd avoid the C-Spec, it looks cool with the cafe styling but not as comfortable since it has clip-ons rather than handlebars. The Bolt is more or less a knock-off Sportster, but Yamaha made the slightly better handling bike in my opinion.

It will feel very different from a supermoto, which is good or bad depending on the type of riding at hand. I favor naked sports and supermoto as well, but there's a place for each kind and why it always comes back to needing more than one bike.

As for how I look I honestly don't care, ride what you like and are comfortable on. I'm always wearing my Astars gear regardless of the style bike because I like how it fits me and the level of protection it offers... with the added bonus of looking less like an old man lol

ya i was wondering if it was a knock off of the sportster since it looked so similar. how was it on acceleration? decent or pretty slow? i was looking at specs of it and even thou it has a larger cc engine it has a rather low top speed tbh.

oh ya anything i go to will be way different from the supermoto minus from what ive been told naked sport bikes since they feel close to one. the riding ill be doing with this or a naked bike is just riding around town with my buddy and eventually the gf on the back. im not going to be racing it or tracking it or anything like that just something to ride around on.

i mean looks be looks lol they are subjective ya know. did you really wear all the astars gear while riding the bolt around lol

ya that is true ive ridden like one or two naked sport bikes lol and like how they feel so similar to mine.

can for sure see it being fine with one but having two people it would be a pain for long distance.

the supermoto wont go anywhere ill always have it. the main reason is its very very tiring... when me and my buddy go ride its not for a few hours.. we are usually gone for either most of the day or half the day and im normally fine but at that 5hr mark i hate that little bike lmao. its awful on highways or any faster road ways since it really wont cruise at all the wind is nuts with it! plus ya know its only a 5spd... not super comfy for the seat portion for long rides plus i cant have two on this thing or would i ever want to have two on it...

so the question about what kinde of bike/riding regardless of style would be something still fun... i cant own boring things even if they are great... if i find a vehicle boring i get rid of it very fast.. comfort for both of us is a good thing but i dont want a couch on wheels.. so no to big touring bikes or big adventure bikes. something still light and nimble enough to zip around with. lower to the ground would also be nicer or at least one thats easier for me to fully touch the ground with so i have more confidence with her on the back at stop lights and such.

so i guess its either a naked sport bike and she just has to deal with it not being comfy. or finding a cruiser thing that i like in style and overall feel for riding so we can both go out and ride more often.

yes i know i looked at full fairing sport bikes awhile back but kinda decided against those lol (id still get a ninja 400 for track toy thou :anonymous:)

Oof. glad you're relatively okay man. dirt crashes scare me more than road crashes lol probably not logical but

Did you hit your head and forget where you are?

Do it, so I can justify picking up a track R6

come on over to CA, i'm sure you could find a few...

Everything you are saying you want is relative and/or subjective. Need more info to help you find the right bike.

What is "light" to you, or better yet, what is "too heavy"?

    Define exciting.

What does "nimble enough to zip around with" mean, exactly?

How low does a seat need to be to be confidence inspiring for you? What's your inseam?

haha just wanting other thoughts on the subject.

    go do it!

also i laughed pretty hard at that last bit lmao
i mean tbh talking on here wont help me find the right bike lol ill have to get out and truly sit on them or be able to ride them.

light meaning sub 600lbs would prefer under 500 but that is harder to find with some bikes.

exciting is subjective tbh so that is fully up to me on that one.

nimble? well meaning its easy to move around in traffic and doesnt feel like a chore to move around. i know heavier bikes wont be like my little supermoto in traffic and some bikes wont be able to be throw around like mine so that will be something again up to me.

seat height no idea lol the z650 is at a good height and comfortable for me to flatfoot. so somewhere around there or lower i guess? and inseam zero clue! never looked at that haha

Yeahhhhhh Naked sport bike is checking all those boxes for you for sure.... Ill say I do enjoy my super tenere more than my honda 919 for reasons of comfort (seated position essentially like a dirtbike, more suspension to deal with rough roads, creature comforts - abs tcs) and long distance riding.... that 919 was sooooo much more nimble around traffic and playful, a street weapon for sure.

a 650/700cc parallel twin in a naked sport bike platform will be a freaking HOOT on the street of truly usable power, nimble, light, and anything modern will have nice things like abs/tcs. Also being typically a normal handlebar setup (vs clip ons like a sport bike), changing out bars/adding bar risers to make the riding position even more upright is easy and cheap.

Everyone needs a 2nd gen FZ1. Fast, comfortable, two up , touring , track days , back roads , twisties. HOOLIGANISM at its best. Of course I am partial!!

+1 just before the pandemic I actually was super close to swapping the 919 for a 2nd gen FZ1. Cus ya know I definitely needed 30 more hp.

that is true minus the fact of the rear seat portion haha. ya i can see why you like the tenere but its just not for me ya know lol. i do feel like if i go with something other then a naked sport bike i wont enjoy it but who knows lol.

ya thats my thought on it as well they are very similar to what i ride currently but more comfortable well for me lol. not so much for her haha abs would be really nice to have as well lmao ive never had it before on a bike. ya it does seem that most nakes have normal bars instead of clipons which tbh are okay to me but not as nice as a true bar at least to me.
id like a mt-07 but people want money for them... meanwhile the z650 you can get pretty cheap in my opinion

IDK. In my cycletrader wanderings I've seen some cool stuff. Granted, day shift I'm less likely to be able to help, but on nights I can dig through all kinds of stuff. @but why tho knows I can find good bikes. :D

Fair enough. At least give me an area to search in and your deal breakers. Give me a city and a range around it to look in.

I like vehicle shopping. I do it for fun even when I am not in the market, so at least my wanderings could be of use. :D

haha thats fine im out in the kc area in missouri. i have no issues driving 3 hours for a good deal. (the z650 is in omaha lol)

deal breakers would be cost lol i dont really wanna spend 6k on a second bike tbh. so ya its gonna be harder for me to find something but im stubborn and dont want to spend a lot haha. id be looking for a z650 or a mt-07, id be fine with a bolt to go and check out tbh so i can get a feel for one to see if i would like it or not.
